Tararua Community Services has a new friendly face! 👋

Meet Louise — our newest Whānau Support Worker, here to walk alongside people navigating the ups and downs of parenting and whatever else life throws their way. She brings a wealth of experience and a whole lot of heart to our team. We're so glad she's here. Help us give Louise a warm welcome to the TCS whānau! 🧡

"Kia ora koutou, I’m Louise Kernahan, a proud mama and Nanny. My whanau are the thing that gets me up and motivated to make the most of my day. I love being a parent and Nanny, I think they are the most roles I’ve been given in my life. I’m originally from the Wairarapa and have lived here in Pahiatua for the last five years. My life experiences and support from awesome mentors, have shaped who I am today.
I have worked in education for many years supporting teen parents, at risk youth, neuro diverse students and homeschooling. I have also worked in the hospitality industry where I owned and operated a motel. Recently I have been supporting locals in their homes and gardens.
I am really looking forward to being part of the awesome team at Tararua Community Services and out there supporting our local parents to have a hope and plans for a brighter future for themselves and their tamariki.

Today we had the privilege of holding a wānanga wahakura, thanks to Hapai Te Hauora - Maori Public Health . 💚

With the support of our local Mokopuna Ora weavers and Pahiatua Marae, we were able to provide a space where hapū māmā and their whānau could learn about safe sleep and weave a wahakura for their unborn pēpi.

A beautiful day of sharing mātauranga, strengthening connections, eating wholesome kai and wrapping our pēpi in aroha before they arrive. 🌿💚

Mā te huruhuru ka rere te manu. 🪶 With the right support, we can all flourish.

Kia ora Tararua whānau — we have something really exciting happening next Thursday! 💛

Richie Hardcore will be speaking to Year 11-13 rangatahi at **Dannevirke High School at 10.00am** and **Tararua College at 2.00pm** on Thursday 15 October — and whānau are warmly welcome to come along too.

Richie speaks to young people about the stuff that truly matters — mental health, healthy relationships, social media, s*x and consent, and how we end s*xual and domestic violence together. Honest, real kōrero that our rangatahi deserve to hear.

Come alongside your young person and keep that kōrero alive at home.

PAHIATUA ... Don't let the cleared cones fool you — we're not back at 43 Main Street quite yet 😊

Asbestos inside the building means it's looking unlikely we'll return. But please don't worry — Tararua Community Services is still very much open and here for you.

You'll find us just around the corner at **1 Centre Street, Pahiatua**. It's a little cosy, but our door is always open and you are always welcome.

Our landline is forwarded to the team in Dannevirke, so call anytime — or better yet, come say kia ora in person!

In Pahiatua today! 🤩 Join us from 10am – 3pm at the Bush Multipark Stadium for the Piki Te Hauora Expo.

Bring the whole whānau as there is lots to explore with fun activities and local services all in one place. 💜 It’s a great opportunity to connect, find out what’s happening in our rohe, and do something good for your hauora.

💜 Make sure you pop in and say kia ora to our kaimahi at the Tararua Community Services gazebo. We’d love to see you!

Ninety-five meals. 🍲💛

That's how much aroha flowed through Pahiatua over the last couple of weeks, thanks to an incredible partnership with the team at Pahiatua Repertory Society.

They shared their leftover kai with us after each show. We swapped containers, they came back full of beautiful food, and our Tararua Community Services whānau made sure it reached people who really needed it — often the very next day.

Food that could have gone to waste became something so much more. That's community. That's love in the most practical, nourishing form.

We're so grateful to everyone who made this possible.🤍

Our Growing Through Grief programme now has after school groups running in your area — a safe, caring space where tamariki can feel less alone and find their way through.
