🎯 Celebrating Our Governance Team 🎯

As part of National Volunteer Week, we want to acknowledge and thank the incredible volunteers who serve on Youth Encounter's Board of Trustees.

While much of their contribution happens behind the scenes, their impact reaches every young person, volunteer, staff member, and whānau connected to Youth Encounter.

Our trustees generously give their time, experience, wisdom, and leadership to help guide the organisation, steward resources well, strengthen governance, and ensure Youth Encounter remains focused on its mission of unleashing the God-given potential of young people.

They ask the hard questions, provide encouragement, offer accountability, share expertise, and help us navigate both opportunities and challenges. Most importantly, they believe in the vision of creating places of belonging where young people can discover their identity, purpose, hope, and resilience.

Thank you for your commitment, leadership, and servant-hearted contribution to this community. Your investment helps create a legacy that extends far beyond the board table and into the lives of young people across Aotearoa.

🌟 Celebrating Our Young Leaders Mahi Lab Volunteers 🌟

As part of National Volunteer Week, we want to give a special shout-out to the incredible young people in our Young Leaders Mahi Lab.

While many people their age are still figuring out what they want to do, these young leaders are stepping up, serving others, learning new skills, and making a real contribution to their community.

Through the Mahi Lab, they are gaining hands-on experience, building confidence, developing leadership skills, and learning what it means to take responsibility, work as a team, and make a difference.

From helping run events, to supporting activities, maintaining our facilities, influencing on social media, and encouraging younger participants, they are already leaving a positive impact on the people around them.

The future of our communities is brighter because of young people willing to show up, learn, serve, and grow.

We're incredibly proud of each of them and excited to see where their journey takes them.

This week we celebrate the incredible people who give their time, energy, skills, and hearts to make a difference in the lives of young people.

At Youth Encounter, our volunteers are more than helpers. They are mentors, role models, leaders, listeners, encouragers, camp leaders, activity instructors, cooks, drivers, supporters, and friends. They create spaces where young people feel they belong, are accepted, connected, and empowered to discover their potential.

Every conversation, every ride, every camp, every event, every meal served, and every act of kindness helps a young person take another step towards living life wide open.

This year's National Volunteer Week theme is: ✨ Your Year to Volunteer – Tōu tau ki te tΕ«ao ✨

To all of our volunteers, young leaders, trustees, and supporters who generously give of themselves β€” thank you. Your impact reaches much further than you may ever realise.

What an incredible day together.

From dirt bikes and disc golf, to great food, plenty of laughs, celebrating strengths, and calling out the potential we see in one another, it was a powerful reminder of what makes Youth Encounter so special.

To every volunteer who gives their time, energy, skills, encouragement, prayers, transport, mentoring, practical help, and support β€” thank you.

You are the heart of this community.

Young people may come for the activities, but they stay because of the people. The acceptance, connection, encouragement, and belonging that our volunteers create is what changes lives.

One of the highlights of the evening was hearing people call out the strengths and potential they see in one another. It reminded us that just as we help young people discover their value and potential, we carry that same responsibility towards each other.

Thank you for helping create a place where young people can encounter their potential and Live Life Wide Open.
