Good news conservation story!
We’ve just had an American professional baseball player trapping and learning the ropes at Blue Duck Station. Jack Fox has decided it’s time to get a new career before something gives out on the body. He’s chosen conservation and Blue Duck Station for his first port of call.
It’s been a pleasure showing him around and teaching him about the ecology and issues of New Zealand. He’s also a keen hiker, hunter and photographer.
He’s just left to head to Alaska for a year‘s conservation work. Cheers Jack you’ll be back!

Oruru stream watershed, mix of topography and habitat. This is the eastern side of Blue Duck Station, last weekend we put a new double set Doc 200 trap line up the stream. Good access and a beautiful walk for our volunteers to check traps.

Kia ora and thank you for joining us on our journey to protect and preserve the incredible biodiversity of Blue Duck Station, and the majestic Whanganui National Park that surrounds it.

We're passionate about looking after Mother Nature and our native New Zealand wildlife, especially the rare and endangered whio (blue duck), by restoring our natural ecosystem, improving water quality, and promoting sustainable land management.

Follow along for updates on our conservation projects and partnerships, wildlife sightings, volunteer opportunities, and inspiring stories of life on the land, the people and animals that make this place so special.

Together, we can make a difference 💚
