Just a reminder for parents to keep an eye on children around the BMX track and sports grounds.

Last week, towards the end of football, a child was approached by an unknown adult and asked to go with him. The child did the right thing, but it’s a good reminder for everyone to stay aware and ensure children know what to do if approached by someone they don’t know.

Otewa Man U will not be playing today as their team is out sick.

This means that the following games are cancelled:
- Piopio minors vs Otewa Man U at 3:40
- TKP Comets vs Otewa Man U at 4:05

Edited to add - Pukenui Pulse has also defaulted their game to Otewa Liverpool at 5pm

Unfortunately it looks like the weather is not going to cooperate today, so we’ve decided to cancel today’s games.

⛈️Potential weather cancellation⛈️

The weather today is looking a little ominous with rain and potential thunderstorms. Soccer today may be cancelled, we will assess the current pitch conditions, observed weather, and the forecast at 2 pm and make a call as to whether we are going ahead.

The outcome of this will be posted on facebook either way and if we cancel we will advise the schools.

⚽️ Kick off the long weekend with football ⚽️

‼️ SAFE AND FAIR PLAY ‼️

We need coaches, referees, and parents on the sidelines to ensure our games safe and keeping with the true spirit of the game.

One of the main priorities of our football games is player safety. We all need to ensure the game remains safe and enjoyable for everyone involved.

This includes keeping an eye on unacceptable physical play such as pushing players, pulling jerseys, yanking arms or shoulders, shoving players, kicking at players, sliding and taking players out, and continuing to kick at the ball once the goalkeeper has control.

We have seen a mixture of it out in the year 5 & 6 and 7 & 8 grades. This is unacceptable and needs to be called out and stopped by our coaches and referees.
