🎙️ 𝗦𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗢𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗛𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁 – 𝗣𝘂𝗯𝗹𝗶𝗰 𝗖𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄𝗲𝗿𝘀

🗣️ S𝐨u𝐭h𝐥a𝐧d𝐞r𝐬 𝐖a𝐧t𝐞d t𝐨 𝐇e𝐥p R𝐞c𝐨r𝐝 𝐎u𝐫 𝐑e𝐠i𝐨n’s U𝐧t𝐨l𝐝 𝐒t𝐨r𝐢e𝐬

The 𝗦𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗢𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗛𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁 (𝗦𝗢𝗛𝗣) is inviting community members to get involved in a new wave of oral history interviews focused on the region’s unique people, industries, and communities.

📚 Founded in 2006, the project is a joint venture between 𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗦𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵 and the 𝗜𝗻𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗴𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗖𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗖𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗹, housed at the 𝗜𝗻𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗴𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗖𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗟𝗶𝗯𝗿𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗔𝗿𝗰𝗵𝗶𝘃𝗲𝘀.

🗓️ Over the next six months, the project will support a group of interviewers to record stories on key topics where we have significant gaps in our collection, including:

⚓ Bluff and maritime history
🏪 Longstanding businesses in Invercargill’s CBD
🎭 Arts organisations with deep roots in the region (such as Out of School Music, Repertory, and Musical Theatre)
🌷 The tulip industry
🏳️‍🌈 LGBTQIA+ experiences
🏞️ Tourism development in the Catlins

🎧 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗽𝗮𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗲𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗳𝘂𝗹𝗹 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀, 𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗹𝘂𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴:
✅ Training in interview techniques, ethics, and technical skills
✅ Help researching their chosen topic and planning interviews
✅ Equipment provided
✅ A mentor to guide them
