Fantastic!

Today we celebrate equal representation in Parliament. Women MPs now have an equal share of seats to men in the House.

This milestone comes 89 years after the first women MP, Elizabeth McCombs, was elected in 1933.

There have been many trailblazing wāhine in those 89 years. Check out this RNZ article that explores some of those moments: https://www.rnz.co.nz/news/political/477290/women-will-have-equal-share-of-seats-in-parliament-with-soraya-peke-mason-s-swearing-in

We thank all wāhine parliamentarians, past and present, for representing Aotearoa New Zealand.

Lessons in Chemistry will make you wonder about all the real-life women born ahead of their time—women who were sidelined, ignored and worse because they weren't as resourceful, determined and lucky as Elizabeth Zott. She's a reminder of how far we've come, but also how far we still have to go.”
