'Volunteering is driven by diverse motivations. Individuals may volunteer to acquire new skills. Others may do so to gain relevant experience, enhancing their job prospects. Some may volunteer to contribute to their community. Generally, people engage in volunteer work with organisations whose mission and cause resonate with them, rather than for the rewards associated with volunteering'. - Volunteer Pro.

As the crew of P.S. WAIMARIE bunkers in Whanganui this afternoon, they carry on a tradition of innovation and perseverance. This historic ship, built in 1899 and assembled in New Zealand from a kitset, continues to break new ground as the country's only operational coal-fired paddle steamer. Well done team.
