Met Service Āotearoa has upgraded the Heavy Rain Warning for the Bay of Plenty to RED.

🌧 What this means:
• An intense period of rain today through to Thursday morning (around 9am)
• 180–240mm of rain expected on top of what has already fallen
• Peak downpours of 25–40mm per hour

🔴 Red warnings indicate dangerous conditions, including:
• Rapidly rising rivers
• Flooding and slips
• Road closures and hazardous travel

🚪 Service update – Te Tāwharau o Te Whakatōhea & Te Pou Oranga o Te Whakatōhea
• Our offices and services has closed since 1.00pm today
• Staff will be working remotely
• All going well, we will reopen Friday morning

🚗 Please travel only if essential
• Check NZTA Waka Kotahi for road closures
• Avoid floodwaters - do not cross, drive, or play in them
• If water levels rise, move to higher ground immediately

Summer has been putting in her own time coaching the 7th and 8th grade Peewees for the Opotiki Magpies Football Club. Her hard work and dedication have paid off – she was awarded Coach of the Year and received a trophy for her efforts.

🌊 Exciting News! 🌊

We are so proud to share that two of our Y2 students, Savanna Te Kani and Deisyah Huriwai Collier, have been accepted into the Westport Deep Sea Fishing Program down south! 🎣

This October, they will be flying out to begin their journey in the exciting career of deep-sea fishing. What an amazing opportunity to travel, work on the open ocean, and take a bold step into a new industry.

Well done, girls – you’ve shown great courage stepping outside your comfort zones, and we couldn’t be prouder! 🌟👏
