Rotary Club of Omokoroa

Congratulations to Murray Marshall for winning the Ōmokoroa Volunteer of the Year award which was presented at the Heart of Omokoroa volunteers morning tea on Thursday.

After arriving in Ōmokoroa in 2023, Murray joined the Omokoroa Community Response Team. He has worked hard within the group and used his previous experience to help build it into a great team.

In 2024, he was asked to become the Chairperson of Ōmokoroa Community Policing Group Charitable Trust, which supports Ōmokoroa Community Patrol, Neighbourhood Support, Community Response Team and Graffiti Busters. He also joined the Community Patrol in 2026.

Murray joined the Rotary Club of Ōmokoroa in April 2025.

Not long after joining Rotary, he became part of the Rotary District Foundation committee and then the Ōmokoroa Rotary Health Shuttle subcommittee, which set up and now runs the Ōmokoroa Health Shuttle.

He has worked within the club to assist Bronwyn Carter, our current President, in chartering the Rotary Club of Ōmokoroa, which happened in April this year. We are the first new Rotary club to be chartered in the last ten years.

In November 2025, Murray was elected and became one of two Western Bay District Council Ōmokoroa Community Board Members.
He says, “In Ōmokoroa, the volunteers support each other, and this helps make our community.”

Some of our members dropping off the groceries and money to the Omokoroa Foodbank. The Omokoroa community showed it's generosity once again and Pastor Matthew Needham was grateful for the more than 640 items and $667.

Collecting outside Fresh Choice for the Omokoroa Food bank today. Our community showed how generous they are once again!
Cans for a Cause is running all week so you can drop off your non perishable food items any time at .
All items and donations will go towards the local Omokoroa Foodbank
