Hi there
Well our year is now off to a flying start. We are getting new work in every day that we are open.
One of our favorite projects this year has been to refurbish a lovely Rocking Horse. This was built by a grandfather, and was spotted on Market Place. How amazing.
Some other noticeable items include:
Serving platers,
A nice refurbished table 1m square,
and Owl nesting boxes
All these are available in our shop which is open Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday mornings

We have been relatively busy over the holiday period with new and old customers wanting our services.
We had to construct a lovely little table fo a lady who bought two little chairs, and one of our locals wanted a owl nesting box made, so we made a couple more that we have for sale in our shop So if you want some timber products, we have some great things here. Ie chopping boards, turned bowls, corn bag games and lots more.

OPEN DAY
Menzshed Omokoroa is having an Open Day on Saturday 13 December from 8am to noon.
Our members will be working away, and our shop will be filled with items we have made.
Come along, see what we do, and have a chat. We will also be holding a raffle for one of our famous chopping boards.

Young Des Gardener celebrated his 97th birthday with us last Tuesday. We all had a great morning tea. Des is a very active member of our Shed and attends a couple of times a week.
He has great skills at constructing rat traps, and is very good at stripping and repairing wooden chairs.
Remember folks, our shop is open Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday 8.00 to 1230. Come and have a look. You will be presently surprised.

We held our AGM on 6th September and we had 32 of our members attend. With 8 apologies.
We got through all the relevant administration in a very good time period.
We must thank our community very much for the support we have had over the last year with projects that we did for them and for the Community.
Our Committee for the next is unchanged from last year.

Well its only a couple of weeks until we have our 2025 AGM, so don't forget members to make sure this is calendared. It will be a good day.
We have a complete Committee nominated for the 2026 year. Its great to so much commitment to make sure that the shed runs well

The Shed has been very busy over the last few weeks with many little projects coming in from our community.
John has created two beautiful rimu cutting boards for a customer that really show the lovely grain of this timber.
Our garden is blooming with lots of the produce going to the local food bank. We have joined a Katikati garden club that supplies us with ongoing seedlings each week, so that keeps our gardeners busy.
We have all been saddened by the death of one of our founding members David Wood who died on 5th August. David was a very active member who was always ready to pull his sleeves up and get stuck into projects. He was very proud of his knife sharpening skills, and some of the sharpening that he did for both customers and our members was to a very high standard. RIP David.

Knife, scissor, and woodworking tool sharpening continues and we can normally get things sorted within a few days, We use a Tormek wet stone sharpener that does a superb job with a diamond impregnated water cooled wheel.
