"The Outing" Photo
Below is a photo which is on the wall in the Social Room at the Okaihau Hall – it is titled “The Outing”.

We took all the photos down during our renovations last year, & now seem to have misplaced the plaque that went with this particular photo, so we have no idea what the occasion was, or anything else about it.

Can anyone shed some light? Please email [email protected].

Okaihau Community Play Box at the Tennis clubhouse (next to the Rugby Club)

Huge shoutout to Sport Northland and ReSport for providing the equipment in the Okaihau Community Play Box! We’ve loved seeing everyone out there making the most of the basketballs, tennis gear, skateboards, and scooters.

Quick reminder: if any of the gear "magically" migrated to your house overnight, please bring it back to the Play Box! Returning items ensures there’s always equipment ready for the next person to play. Thanks for looking out for our community!

The Okaihau Community Association is looking for an enthusiastic company or local group to bring a bouncy castle to this year's Okaihau Christmas Gala on Saturday, December 12th!

This is a fantastic opportunity to support our community while hosting a fun attraction for local families. We are offering the event site free of charge, and you have complete flexibility in how you run it—offer the bouncy castle for free, or set a ticket price and keep 100% of the proceeds for your business or group.

If you are interested in partnering with us to make this year's gala extra memorable, we would love to hear from you!

New Play-Space Coming to Okaihau!

The Okaihau Community Association, together with Sport Northland, are planning a new play-space at the Domain (next to and behind the tennis courts) for kids up to 8 years old.

Instead of standard plastic and metal, this will be a Mara Hupara style space made from natural materials like logs, stones, ropes, and tyres to spark imagination and bring families together.

We need your feedback to help identify the best types of play equipment to include.

Attached are photos of some types of equipment we could install. These pics are just to get ideas flowing – please feel free to suggest anything else, or offer variations or combinations.

Please let us know your top 5 choices from the photos – each photo is numbered. Or if you have any other ideas, we’d love to hear it.

Free to Use Sports Box

The Okaihau Community Association has installed a new play-box right beside the tennis clubrooms, packed with free-to-use gear—including tennis racquets, balls, frisbees, skateboards, and scooters! A huge thanks to ReSport and Sport Northland for providing the equipment.

How it works:

Enjoy it: Everyone is welcome to use the gear for free.

Return it: Please put everything back in the box when you're done so the next person can enjoy it too.

Donate it: Have good-quality, pre-loved sports gear lying around? Feel free to drop it in the box! (Please, no broken or unusable items).

Protect it: If you spot any gear left around the rugby fields or streets, please help out by returning it to the box
