Waitaki District Youth Council The Youth Council is a team of representatives, providing a youthful perspective for the Waitaki District.

We work alongside council in decision-making for young people, making sure young people are heard across the district. This page is owned by Waitaki District Council

This time last week! ✨

Thank you to everyone who came along to our Matariki Night Market last Friday – we hope you enjoyed it!

We loved seeing so many people come together to celebrate Matariki in Ōamaru – and enjoy the food, harakeke weaving, star trail, games and activities we organised.

We couldn’t have done it without the support of the Ōamaru community, so a big kā mihi nui to:

We had our first meeting for the year on Monday, and elected our new leadership group:

Chairperson – Jemima Riley-Duddin
Deputy Chairperson – Emily Hyslop
Communications – Sophie Braid & Olivia Morriss

We also talked about values and tikanga – and what our focus areas for 2026 might be. Excited to get started and really show up for rangatahi in Waitaki in 2026! 🔥
