Representing Tuvalu 🇹🇻 boxers Tarona Taafaki, Francis Taafaki and head coach Badi Taafaki travelled for over 24 hours straight, endured three flight delays, very little sleep, and an early weigh-in before competition.

Tarona had the privilege of competing at the very first Women's Boxing Legacy event, held at the Australian Institute of Sport AIS in Canberra 🇦🇺Thank you for the invitation 🙌🏾

🥇 Tarona Taafaki (19y.o) had her second fight and secured a unanimous decision victory. Beyond the result, the event provided valuable lessons, quality competition experience against an experience boxer, and an excellent lead-up in her development as she continues to build momentum toward her goal of competing at the Commonwealth Games 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🌎

Unfortunately, Francis was unable to compete after her opponent withdrew.

🥹 Proud of both athletes for the way they represented themselves, their team, and Tuvalu🇹🇻

Meaningful connections were made, networks were strengthened, and knowledge was shared, making the trip a rewarding experience both inside and outside the ring 🌱

🙌🏾 Grateful that our boys, Pasoni and Taafaki, were welcomed and had the opportunity to be part of this amazing training camp last weekend even though Badi was away in Australia.

🔥A heartfelt thank you to the hosts PBO whānau for your warm hospitality and delicious kai, A-Town for your generosity and the many opportunities created through your connections, Southern Queens for your passion, energy, and colourful words (we loved it!), and Otepoti for your wisdom and to BoxFit Brothers and Burnham Boxing for your support, all making the camp such a success 💯

We truly appreciate the knowledge, experience, and fresh perspectives that was shared throughout the weekend 👊🏽

A great reminder of what boxing is all about, learning, growth, respect, and community. We came away with valuable lessons, quality sparring, new skills, and new insight 🌱

It was also awesome to see the boys connecting with others, building friendships, and stepping outside their comfort zones ☺️

We're grateful for the experience and look forward to putting what we've learned into practice 🤜🏾💥

In unity we strive, in humility we grow, and in every contest we honour one another 🕊️

🇹🇻 Tuvalu representatives Pasoni Taafaki and Taafaki Taafaki competed at the 🏆 BSA Club Championships in 📍Adelaide, Australia 🇦🇺

🔥 Pasoni Taafaki (18 y.o) 75kg Elite OPEN Male
Pasoni Taafaki faced tough competition against older and far more experienced opponents with mature physical attributes. Despite catching a cold due to the travelling, Pasoni delivered an outstanding performance, winning his quarterfinal bout by referee stoppage.

In the semifinals, Pasoni was controversially denied the decision, costing him the opportunity to advance to the final.

Determined to finish the tournament strongly, he entered the bronze medal bout with purpose. However, when the referee’s calls began reflecting similar frustrations from the previous contest and a point was deducted from Pasoni, the bout quickly became purposeless. Pasoni responded in a dominant fashion, forcing three quick eight counts within a minute on his opponent before the referee stopped the contest. He secured the bronze medal with yet another referee stoppage victory. 2 wins and 1 lesson learnt.

🥇Taafaki Taafaki (15 y.o) 70kg Male competed in the U17 Male Open category.
He also impressed, taking on a highly ranked Australian State Champion and earning a unanimous decision victory after a very strong performance.

With close to 300 boxers competing across 3 days, 2 rings, and a huge amount of talent on display 🤯 Grateful for the opportunity to be invited, learn, develop, and test ourselves at a high level 🙌🏾 Huge thanks to everyone involved in running the event. It was awesome to be a part of the Australian boxing community, meet new people, connect with different clubs, and share the same fire for the sport 🧨

🔥The Arapawa Boxing Amateur Tournament delivered a huge night of back-to-back bouts, nonstop action, electric crowd energy, and quality amateur boxing from start to finish.

Our sincere thanks to the team at Arapawa Boxing Club for hosting four of our boxers and graciously allowing us to be part of their evening 🙏🏾 Opportunities for bouts are not always easy to secure, so we are truly grateful for the invitation and the chance to compete alongside a strong lineup of clubs and athletes 💪🏾🔝

🤩 A sincere thank you to the referees, judges, officials, and MC whose professionalism kept the standard high throughout the evening. To the volunteers from the Arapawa team who worked behind the scenes to keep the event running smoothly, thank you. And to the littles running gloves ✨ outstanding work all night.

⚡️The support from the local community was felt all night, genuine, positive, and backed by some crazy energy from start to finish ❤️It’s no surprise Arapawa Boxing Club has grown so strongly, with a community that shows up for its athletes and stands behind the work being done. Definitely a night to remember 🤯

🥇Taafaki Taafaki 65kg Male Junior REMATCH
🥇 Tarona Taafaki 85kg Female Elite DEBUT
🥇 Francis Taafaki 80kg+ Female Youth REMATCH
🥇 Pasoni Taafaki 73kg Male Elite REMATCH

We thank our opponents and their teams for the opportunity to compete, test ourselves, and continue learning through the sport. These events rely on the trust between clubs, the dedication of coaches, and the commitment of athletes who are willing to step up, make the journey, and give everything in the ring so everyone involved can grow through the experience.

🥊⚡️Happy Fathers Day 💪🏾🌱
Today we celebrate all the pāpā who inspire, guide and never give up. We also acknowledge our Coach, Badi Taafaki, who shows us every day what true commitment, discipline and heart look like. 💪

His journey proves that when you set your eyes on the prize, there is no looking back. Every goal chased, every obstacle overcome and every achievement earned has been driven by relentless spirit.

Coach often reminds us that “the greatest investment you have is your children.” He lives by those words, pouring his heart and energy into guiding others, both in life and in the ring. The lessons he teaches go beyond boxing: manawanui , kaha , māia and the belief that nothing is impossible with mahi and heart.

Ngā mihi nui to Coach and to all the fathers who uplift their whānau. Today, we celebrate you. ❤️
