What a fantastic turnout at the Kaitake Ranges Conservation Trust AGM last night! Thank you to all our members—new and longstanding—who joined us. It was wonderful to see you all. 😍

A huge thank you to our guest speakers:

🎤 🌳Nick Heslop from Taranaki Regional Council, who introduced us to some seriously impressive camera and microphone technology being used for tracking and trapping possums in Taranaki.

🔑🟤Toby Shanely from Taranaki Kiwi Trust, who shared the fantastic kiwi updates and monitoring results—and the exciting possibility of another 47 kiwi being released!

🐦 Halle Aish, ETET- East Taranaki Environment Collective Conservation Ranger, who spoke about their incredible work protecting the kōkako population in the Pouiatoa Conservation Area, across some very remote and challenging terrain.

🐀Brandon Kingi, Department of Conservation DOC Ranger, for sharing his trapping knowledge, and tips on mantaining those traps. Who knew a bent metal scrapper is the best tool to do the trick!

We also loved Jordan’s video showing our young trappers having fun in the bush, along with hearing the latest possum eradication progress and ferret, stoat, cat and rat catch numbers.

With all that trapping talk, it’s safe to say we were completely caught up! 😄

Thank you again to everyone who came to share their knowledge and made the evening such a success.😁🙌🙏🌿

Well done Blake from Grounded Kiwi and welcome Jackson, we are greatful to have your trapping support 🙌😁🙏

We would like to give a huge shoutout to Grounded Kiwi, who have been ongoing supporters of TKT. Blake and his family are committed to giving back, and have donated more than $25,000 to charities across Aotearoa!

They have recently moved into a larger premises in New Plymouth, so make sure you head on in and check out their grounding products in their new showroom.

Last year Jess took Blake out to catch Stella the kiwi at Omoana, a beautiful big female who the family named back when she was released in 2023.

We have to share this amazing story of a new local eco warrior family and their journey to help native kororā on our local Ōākura Beach.

A recently-arrived American family's deep-dive into all things little blue penguin has revealed increasing numbers on the Taranaki coastline, but also threats the birds are facing.

🌿 Happy National Volunteer Week | Te Wiki Tūao ā-Motu 🌿

Today we celebrate and thank the incredible volunteers who make the mahi of Kaitake Ranges Conservation Trust possible.⛰️

Your mahi matters.🙌
And your contribution makes such a fantastic difference. 💫🌏

Every trap checked, every track walked, every pest removed, every kiwi monitored, every native plant cared for, and every hour given helps protect this precious place and creates a future where our native taonga can thrive. 🐦🌱

Winter trapping is hard yakka!
Its wet, cold, muddy, on narley tracks, and our volunteers give so much. They give their time, energy, knowledge and passion to help restore and protect the Kaitake Ranges.

The return of kiwi is such a celebration 🔑🟤🎉 and the ongoing restoration of this special whenua is a testament to what a committed community can achieve together.

To each and every one of you — ngā mihi nui, thank you. 💚

Together, we are helping bring life back to the ranges for generations to come.

🌿 Happy National Volunteer Week — we couldn’t do it without you. 🌿
