Iwi, Hapu, Whanau and Marae - go to your nearest beach - Takutai Maoana, light a fire and Burn the Bill.

Then upload your images to social media.

Safety of Whanau is paramount

SAFETY IS PARAMOUNT 🔥

1. Fire should be 10mtrs downwind from grass or bush.

2. Dampen down area around fire.

3. Do not leave fire unattended.

4. Have a fire extinguisher within reach

5. Ensure fire is fully extinguished before leaving the scene.

An explainer on the proposed amendments to the Marine & Coastal Area Act. These changes are a direct breach of Te Tiriti o Waitangi - raising the bar to impossible heights for hapu & iwi to have customary marine rights recognised.

It’s exhausting watching law after law erode our tino rangatiratanga. Nearly 20k signatures gathered in just two days shows how strongly we disapprove. Huge appreciation to those who continue to speak up and hold this government to account.

Fast Track Tai Tokerau?
We say helly no!

100 hearty whānau and activists opposing the fast tracking of Waipiro Marina and Bream Bay sand mining braved the pouring rain. Our message - don’t fast track these projects in Tai Tokerau

Minister Shane Jones says this is a democratic process. I’m wondering if our understanding of democracy is the same? Pretty sure it means listening to community - 15000 have said no to the fast tracking of Waipiro Marina. Submissions at stage one were united in opposition to the project and all asked the minister to send the project through RMA.

The decision to refer Waipiro Marina to Stage 2 was wrong! Choose development that is responsive to our community and does not destroy our environment!

If you’re wondering why we feel so strongly about opposing the fast-tracking of Waipiro Marina - here are five simple reasons:

1. Fair development listens to the people
2. Fast Track gives developers the mic and mutes our community.
3. 9 hectares of fragile public seabed, gifted for profit? Hard no!
4. The developer’s economic claims haven’t been peer-reviewed and they don’t stack up.
5. Mana Whenua deserve real consultation, not a tick-box.
