Kia ora Kerikeri,

While we've been relying almost exclusively on Paul and Mike's hardworking handyman skills, on December 14th we’re adding THREE NEW VOLUNTEERS to our Repair Café family!! 🎉

Here’s what’s new:

🧵 Fiona will be joined by another sewing specialist, ready to tackle teddy bear surgeries and other stitching needs.

🚲 Got a wobbly wheel? Our bike fixer-upper will get your spokes sparkly and your gears turning again.

📻 And, drumroll please… a familiar voice you may have heard from on WTF FM Radio is joining us with a special passion and interest in fixing...
..you guessed it, RADIOS!

Dust off your treasures and bring them to the Cottle Hill Winery from 10 AM to 2 PM on December 14th. Let’s finish the year strong by keeping more items out of the landfill and having fun while we do it!

Kia ora Kerikeri! Here are more highlights from our last Repair Café! 🎉

Some of the other treasures we worked on included:
💨 A home dehydrator, a pressure washer, a stool, and a water heater restored to its full power! 🔥
🕰️ And, of course, another clock fixed and ticking cheerily away!

Speaking of clocks, Mike has truly become a master fixer. His first clock repair was a 200-year-old clock earlier this year, and now he has an entire workshop filled with clocks he’s lovingly restored. 🕰️❤️

Mike loves to remind us that everything is fixable if you’re curious and willing to try. Bring your treasures to our next Repair Café and let’s see what we can revive together!

We had a fantastic Repair Café weekend! Thanks to Barb and Mike Webb we got to breathe some life and laughter into the Cottle Hill Winery. 🛠️🌞

The weather was perfect, the coffee and cookies were delicious, and the tall ceilings left Whisky, our four-legged receptionist, a little overwhelmed (he spent most of his time under the table 😉🐾).

Here are some highlights from the day:

✨ Mike worked magic on a very special bag, tracking down the perfect stain and bringing it back to life. This bag has traveled far and wide and is soon to embark on even more adventures! 💼🛤️

✨ Repair Successes: A kitchen kettle, a hot water heater, garden tools, scissors, and even a wooden stool got a new lease on life. 🪑🔧

✨ Bittersweet Moments: Unfortunately, we couldn’t save a dehumidifier. 💔 But every effort we make helps us learn and strive to keep things out of the landfill. 🌏

A HUGE thank you to everyone who joined us, and to Barbara for giving us a crash course in winemaking and sharing her Cottle Hill treasures! 🍷✨

We have plenty of news and tidbits to share in the coming weeks in preparation for our next Repair Café which will be on December 14, from 10 AM to 2 PM at Cottle Hill Winery. See you there!

Planning to join us at the next Repair Café? Please note that the Kerikeri Half Marathon will be happening on the morning of Saturday, November 16th. This is a fantastic community event, but it may lead to some traffic delays near the Kerikeri roundabout and surrounding routes.

🚧 Expect Delays: The marathon will impact traffic flow from 6:50 AM to 11:30 AM, particularly around Kerikeri and on Wiroa Road near State Highway 10. If you're driving in, give yourself some extra time to get to The Cottle Hill Winery.

Here are some ideas:

- Small appliances (toasters, kettles, vacuums)
- Clothes in need of minor repairs
- Toys, tools, and garden equipment
- Heirloom or sentimental items with small fixable issues

Please bring one item at a time, and if you’d like to join as a volunteer or have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out!

We have an exciting update about the woman who brought in an old backpack and told us the story of her childhood best friend!! 🥰

Her friend was diagnosed with terminal cancer, so the two embarked on some local bucket list adventures together before her passing last April, and this backpack had been around at many adventures during their long friendship. Mike took it home and with a healthy dose of TLC, he brought it back to life!! 🎒

Come hang out with us on Saturday November 16th from 10am-2pm at the Cottle Hill Winery! Bring in an object to be fixed, have a chat, and try some great wine.
