Big Shout Out #11 Bay Beach Clean. For the past few years, Bay Beach Clean has removed and responsibly disposed of more than 5,000 litres of rubbish every year from our local environment! Focusing on the coastlines and waterways from Waitangi to Kawakawa, this incredible volunteer-led initiative has inspired around 150 unique volunteers to answer the call, roll up their sleeves, don their blue jackets & gardening gloves and help protect the places we all love. Together, they're making a visible difference, one bag, one beach, and one clean-up at a time. 💚🌊 The OCEAN MIND project fundraises for Bay Beach Clean, covering the costs of clean-up equipment and rubbish disposal so volunteers can focus on protecting our local environment. A special shout out also goes to last year's sponsor, Phat House Brewing, cheers guys! 🍻
Volunteers meet at 10am on the last Sunday of EVERY MONTH at a local beach or nominated clean-up location. Whether they're seasoned regulars or first-time participants, every helping hand contributes to cleaner coastlines and waterways throughout the Bay. Big shoutout to all of our amazing volunteers that came out to Opua today for our monthly clean-up!

In less than one hour our team collected over 300 litres of rubbish from the Opua area!

We are stoked to have such amazing support in the community and can’t wait to see you next Month (May 31st) at our next location.

This is 53 pieces of rubbish in one hand, collected in 5 minutes walking around the Opua Wharf.

We might not see heaps of rubbish laying around our beautiful bay but it IS there and they continue to pollute our kai moana, our water, and our ecosystem.

This is why we continue to show up and collect whatever we find, because even on the cleanest of beaches we STILL find plastic waste.

It’s that time of month again! We are hitting the Opua coastline for our monthly clean up this Sunday, April 26🙌🏼🌊

Join our awesome team of volunteers in Opua from 10-11am to help keep our bay beautiful 🩵

A big shout out to our 18 volunteers at today’s monthly beach clean! We collectively removed 210 litres of rubbish from Te Haumi beach and the surrounding mangroves 🙌🏼🌊

Join us this Sunday with our new (but actually, one of the originals) volunteer coordinator, Max!

10am start, meeting at the "wee toilets" next to Salt Air in Paihia.

Please bring your friends! 🩵 We are hoping to gather enough volunteers this day to split unto two groups to focus on two areas that really need our attention - the waterway near the school and down by the beach and playground by kings rd. If you ever seen any other 'hot-spots' this week, please let us know!
