Restoring Tuff Crater & Onepoto Stream

We have known for a long time that we have banded rail and spotless crake living in Tuff Crater reserve, which is one reason we have comprehensive predator control in the reserve. Recently Jill and Pest Free Kaipātiki staff have been using trail cameras to look for these shy birds. Bingo! Here is a nice video of a banded rail foraging in the mangroves. Well done team.

We are tending to last years plants tomorrow morning. 9am, St Peters cul de sac and head north (left). We will be clearing grasses around the native plants to give them a bit of space. Come on down - we would love to see you.

We are planting again tomorrow at Tuff Crater and we would love to see you there. We will start at 9am. Follow the signs at 74 Exmouth Rd. Bring a spade if you have one. We only have 260 plants so please come on time or you will miss out! THANKYOU!!

Good to have John Gillon taking an interest in Tuff Crater. He is helping out with an encroachment issue, where a fence has long ago been built on reserve land

Wonderful day yesterday. These are 14 of the 20 bags of Madeira Vine collected for disposal at PFK. Great teamwork by Dave, Robin, Anne, Phil, Tony and Val. This is the hard graft that keeps Tuff Crater so special. Thanks Paul and the Thursday group!!!
