Could you offer a small space that makes a big difference for local whānau? We’re looking for a kind household, church, community centre, or local business to help Bellyful by hosting a freezer.

Bellyful is a volunteer-run charity that provides free frozen meals to whānau with newborns or young children when life feels overwhelming.

Bellyful North Shore is busy - in 2025 alone, our volunteers supported 330 whānau with 1,295 meals, and supplied 665 meals directly to North Shore Hospital’s Special Care Baby Unit.

Hosting one of our freezers is a really simple way to help us. We’ll bring the freezer, you just need to offer a powered space (garage, spare room, community facility, or shop corner) in the north-eastern suburbs (close to East Coast Road, the motorway or Beach Road) with easy access and parking so our volunteers can grab meals quickly.

What we need from you:

- An easily accessible, powered freezer space (we supply the actual freezer unit)
- Good access and parking for quick pick-ups
- Access during reasonable hours so our delivery volunteers can collect meals

This month, our communities are showing up in a big way.

Macaroni March starts today.

Across Aotearoa, people are hosting macaroni dinners, running pasta drives, baking for koha and rallying their workplaces — raising the funds that keep meals going out to families doing it tough.

When life gets overwhelming, a delivered meal is more than food. It’s knowing someone cares.

This September, we’re dishing up kindness with a side of spaghetti. We’re calling on volunteers, supporters, workplaces, and local legends to host a spaghetti-themed fundraiser and help us cook and deliver more meals to whānau with babies or young children who are doing it tough.

We’ll bring the freezer - you just need to offer a powered space (garage, spare room or shop corner) in the north-eastern suburbs (close to East Coast Road, the motorway or Beach Road) with easy parking so our volunteers can grab meals quickly.

👉 97% felt supported without judgement
👉 100% of referrers said we fill a vital gap

In new survey results released for National Volunteer Week (15–21 June), 91% of recipients said the meals gave them a break when they needed it most and 97% felt supported without judgement.
