Thursday Afternoon saw the three of us heading down to Ngāmotu Beach and Port Taranaki for a little tidy up. We picked up along the whole of Ocean View Parade, on the shoreline and on the grass areas.

We also found ourselves a handy Pak’nSave trolley in the bush to cart our rubbish bags around.

It was unfortunate to see that most of the rubbish we gathered was related to single use food takeaway and beverage packaging. Especially as these items are only used for a very short period of time and depending on material can take 45 days to 1000+ years to break down in the ocean.

Be a tidy penguin 🐧

We had a Myth of a Moot at Mythology Moot 2026! Huge thanks to MOC & Staff for all the effort they put in, thanks to you we got to have a fanatstic Easter Weekend at Brookfield in Wellington.

We contributed to service, had some fun for ourselves on tour, mucked around on shooting trophie, pulled as best we could at Tug of War, got dressed up, and already pre-registered for the next one!

Our Monday night was spent down at Butler’s Reef in Oakura. “Bless this guess” took out second to last place, and whilst there is no medal for that, we did come away with a $20 Voucher and had a great night.

We also said goodbye to Elliott as our Crew Leader and elected Chloe in his place. Thanks for all the effort you’ve put in Elliott, we’ll miss ya.

Our weekend at LNI Mini Moot in Whanganui!

On Saturday we helped set up the Viking Village for the Vintage Fair, then participated in Shooting Trophy activities before winding down with a campfire at dusk.
Sunday morning was the Mr and Mrs Mini Moot competition and the afternoon was spent at the Whanganui Aero Show watching aircraft displays. It was a great weekend and thank you to the crews for welcoming us into LNI. 😊

Post Tour in Switzerland!

KISC was the cherry on top of our Moot Adventures. From campfires, to trading, to hiking and swimming, nothing beats a week at the Permanent Mini Jamboree.

Kandersteg International Scout Centre

Highlights:

My highlights in Switzerland include swimming in an incredible alpine lake on Oeshcinensee, trying a proper Swiss Fondue, and a really fun hike up to Ueschienhütte. - Elliott

Our first night at KISC surrounded by mountains and crisp air was surreal.
I enjoyed the relaxed pace of post tour and the vibe of KISC. My highlights of the trip were tobogganing, the Aare River Float and one sketchy Gondola ride for a mountain side picnic. - Chloe

Plus, special mention of the unofficial Post Post Tour… 2 days in Zurich checking out the capital. Lindt Chocolate Factory Tour,
Victornox Flagship Store, a Lakeside Swim and branching off on our own adventures.

Ngamotu Rover Crew takes on World Moot!

In July, Chloe and Elliott joined a contingent of Kiwi Rovers and headed over to Portugal for the 16th World Scout Moot.

Pre Tour saw us exploring the best of what Lisbon had to offer.

For Paths, Chloe stayed in the town of Obidos and Elliott was based in São Pedro da Caderia.
Main Camp was held near Ovar, with opening Ceremony in Espinho. We wrapped up our experience with a Post Tour at KISC.
(Post to follow)

Highlights:

My highlights of Portugal were exploring the culture of São Pedro da Caderia and Mafra with some incredible people from all over the world, the incredible global music display at the opening ceremony in Espinho, and the amazing Pre-Tour activities organized by our CMT. - Elliott

I enjoyed touring the castles of Sintra in Pre Tour and spending an afternoon at the Lisbon Aquarium. I liked exploring the beach towns of Nazare and Peniche with my Path (72) and getting to experience my first ever large scale scout gathering, plus my first time overseas! - Chloe

If you’d like to experience a similar gathering, join us for NZ Moot 2026, Way out West Aussie Moot 2027 or Taiwan World Moot 2029.

SOGO 2025! Held in Palmerston North.

Our Crew Leader, Elliott participated in Paintball (and absolutely nailed the local rover advisor in the forehead from the other side of the arena), played Mini Golf, jumped on a spontaneous train ride, picnicked in the Botanical Gardens, met new Rovers from across the country and caught up with friends from World Moot.
