Taranaki Health Foundation

Taranaki Health Foundation To enable the best possible healthcare via key projects that will make a significant difference to our Taranaki region.

Taranaki Health Foundation - why are we fundraising? The goal of the Taranaki Health Foundation is to enable the best possible healthcare in our region. We do this by fundraising on behalf of the TDHB to deliver new technology, enhancements and services over and above Government funding provided to the Taranaki DHB. The stark reality is that the variety of initiatives we are working on simply wouldn’t be possible without the generous support of the community. Successful partnership projects so far have included: Project Maunga Stage 1, new health technologies, staff training, equipment to improve patient outcomes, a new Mobility Garden and of course the new 3.6 million dollar Angiography Suite at Base Hospital to name a few. Our current fundraising efforts are now focused on Stage 2 of Project Maunga, the $300M+ East Wing development, and we are kicking it off with the Renal Unit relocation/build. Our current $25M project will join a range of enhancements gifted to the Taranaki DHB for the benefit of all Taranaki communities. We acknowledge the regional history of health fundraising to provide vital improvements and enhancements for Taranaki communities. We hope that with your support we can continue to ensure we have the best possible health outcomes for our region.

A huge thank you to everyone who took part in the Million Steps Challenge in September. Your incredible effort has raised $33,443 so far for local neonatal care in Taranaki.

Whilst the stepping may have stopped, the donations are still open! We would love to reach $35,000 before the end of this week. Whether it is $5, $50 or $500, every single dollar donated goes to the cause.

Donations can be made at millionsteps2026.thf.org.nz/donate

Today is the last day of the Million Steps Challenge - and we have smashed through our $25,000 target and our $30,000 stretch target! It may be ambitious, but let's see how close we can get to $35,000!

While today is the last day for counting steps, and over 54 million have been counted, it is by no means the last day for accepting donations.

If a friend or family member has asked you to donate and you've not got around to it yet, then now is your chance. Or if you just want to support local neonatal care, you can donate to the whole campaign.

The Taranaki Cancer Centre | Te Hōpua Whakahauora has had a new addition this last week! Due to a very generous donation from 24/7 Security Solutions we have been able to install this fantastic mural in the whānau room.

Something as simple as this has a huge impact on families that are supporting their loved ones. By providing enhancements like this, we make small but meaningful changes to thousands of people every year.

Thank you to all our donors. Your support makes all the difference.

Thanks to every walker, team and donor in the Million Steps Challenge, we've smashed our $25,000 target! We have raised $ 27,000 to date!

Every dollar will go toward new breast pumps for the Methanex Neonatal Unit at Taranaki Base Hospital. Providing the Methanex Neonatal Unit with a dedicated fleet of new breast pumps means mum can build up a store of milk for when baby is ready for it, help boost baby's immunity, and help mum stay connected to her newborn in this tough time.

But we're not stopping yet. 💪

We've stretched out our target to $30,000, with the extra money being able to provide families with the necessities they need to give their little one the best start in life.

So keep stepping, and keep donating! thf.org.nz/millionsteps

Earlier this week, we advanced to Ward 2b to deliver a gift that will keep the kids entertained for hours!

The Taranaki Chamber of Commerce is celebrating 90 years as an Incorporated Society, and marked the occasion by gifting its members a copy of Taranaki Monopoly.

We reckoned that gift would go further in the hands of the kids in Ward 2b, so we delivered it straight to the nurses who care for them every day.

Thank you, Taranaki Chamber of Commerce, for your generosity and continued support.

What happens when someone steps back and realises that leaving a legacy for something they believe in is something that everyone can achieve?

Taranki Health Foundation General Manager Grant Carter is doing just that.

“We all need our money while we are alive,” Grant says. “But whatever I have left over, I would like it to do some good for the community, helping to ensure future generations continue to have access to outstanding healthcare close to home.”

Leaving a legacy doesn't have to be a complicated, grand gesture. In fact, it is one of the easiest ways to support a community. Speak to Taranaki Foundation to discuss your options and find a cause you believe in. We highly recommend the Taranaki Health Fund!

Turning good into great: Why Grant Carter chose to leave a gift in his Will 1 Sept 2026 For the past five years, Grant Carter has seen first-hand how generosity can make a difference to the Taranaki community. Now, he is putting that belief into practice by leaving a gift in his own Will. As General...

We are halfway through the Million Steps Challenege and boy has Taranaki stepped up! Over 250 people are taking part. Over 28 million steps taken. And over $23,000 raised for local neonatal care so far!

We still have two weeks to go! Support those who are taking on the challenge, and help smash through our $25,000 target!

08/09/2026

We are 9 days into the Million Steps Challenge and have almost raised $20,000 for the Methanex Neonatal unit. This is an incredible start, but there is more to be done!

A huge well done to everyone taking part - it is an amazing thing you are doing and every dollar will make a difference. And if you know someone who is taking part, even the smallest donations is a massive encouragement!
