As the year comes to a close, we’d like to wish our cadets, families, staff, supporters, and the wider New Plymouth community a very Merry Christmas and a safe, happy New Year.

Thank you for your support throughout 2025 as our cadets developed leadership, discipline, aviation skills, and lifelong friendships. We are incredibly proud of everything achieved this year, both on parade and beyond.

We hope the festive season brings rest, reflection, and time with loved ones. We look forward to another exciting year ahead, with new opportunities, challenges, and achievements in the Air Training Corps.

How amazing do our Xmas raffle hampers look!

Each hamper is full of goodies and either countdown vouchers, Egmont honey products, button shack vouchers, a commercial bin hire and empty or at the opposite end of the spectrum a gorgeous voucher from urban spa.

How great would it be to win one?

Hello team … just a wee heads up that the Christmas Raffle returns for the month of November and the drop offs of non perishable Xmas treats / grocery items can begin this week . Bins will be at the front door for you . Any Whanau or community who would love to get on board with additional ideas or contributions are extremely welcome .

Welcome home to WO Muir and LAC Jameson. Both Emma’s attended a JNCO course at RNZAF Ohakea last week. Emma J as a student, Emma M as cadet staff.

Congratulations Major Helen Parr – 2025 NPDC Citizens Award Recipient 🎖️

We’re incredibly proud to celebrate Major Helen Parr, a long-serving and much-loved member of No. 8 Squadron ATC New Plymouth, who was honoured last night at the 2025 NPDC Citizens Awards.

Helen has devoted more than 30 years to serving the New Plymouth community through Cadets, the Coastguard, Girl Guides and her church, always putting others first and supporting youth with compassion and creativity. Over her time with our Unit alone, she has guided and mentored more than 1,000 cadets — a truly extraordinary impact.

It was a special evening made even more meaningful as Helen follows in the footsteps of her mother, who received the same award in 2015.

We are beyond proud to have Helen as part of our team. Her dedication, kindness, and leadership continue to inspire everyone around her. Congratulations Helen – your award is so well deserved!
