What an evening we enjoyed at New Plymouth Raceway last night at our annual TCA Awards Night 🏆

A big congratulations to all our winners:

🏆 Stainton Trophy for Services to Cricket:
John McElroy
John has had a decades long involvement with cricket in our province since he first became involved with Stratford Cricket Club in the 1970s, where he was instrumental in the development of the club’s clubroom building, and the club’s jubilee celebrations.
Later, he became involved with the Taranaki Cricket Association when he moved to New Plymouth – eventually serving for eight years on the TCA Board, six of those as Board Chair. Since stepping down from the Board in 2024, John has remained involved as a volunteer, assisting with tasks at Pukekura Park and having a hands-on role in this year's extension of the Sulzberger Indoor Centre.
Congratulations on your well-deserved award John, and thanks for all the work you do for our association and for cricket in our province.

🏆 Fox Hall Memorial Trophy:
Liam Muggeridge
Liam was nominated for his outstanding performance for Stratford in the Expert Turf premier one-day final.
Captaining the side to its first premier title in a century Muggsy, as he’s affectionately known, lead from the front hitting 101 not out off just 64 balls, and backing it up with the ball taking 3/54 as Stratford won by 46 runs.

Congratulations to Revital Fertilisers who took home The Good Home Twilight Cricket championship in a high scoring and entertaining affair at Pukekura Park on Monday night 🏆
Perennial contenders for the title, Revital came up against a plucky Pikopiko 55 side that was challenging for the crown for the first time.
Opting to bat first, Revital racked up an impressive 171/2 off 14.
With plenty of runs on the board, Revital’s confidence would have been sky high as they took to the field, but Pikopiko made a very good fist of their chase, and despite ending 158/5, the game was alive into the final over.
Well done to Revital and thanks to all participants in the competition over the season.
A special thanks to the team at The Good Home for their support of the competition and the delicious pizzas and drinks at the Rooftop bar afterwards 🍻🍕

Looking forward to doing it all again next year 🔥

The NPBHS 1st XI capped off a strong season at premier level with some silverware on the weekend 🏆
The side took home the honours in the Expert Turf Premier Red-Ball Plate Division over Stumble Inn Woodleigh with a convincing first innings win at home on Top Field.
The win was built on a strong batting performance, something that looked unlikely as they slumped to 3/10 after Woodleigh sent them into bat. But a middle order resurgence featured half centuries to Blake Cathcart (64), Jackson Sleep (64) and Fergus Armstrong (53) as well as good contributions at the end by Lorcan Honeyfield (24) and Keith Patterson (20 not out).
With bonus points not featuring and the side in pole position having qualified top, the side batted for an impressive 140 overs and well into the second day before Woodleigh had a chance at an unlikely chase, needing 310 to win. Woodleigh captain Shaun Sullivan had sent down almost 53 of those overs bowled, and was the top wicket taker, ending with 3/96.
Woodleigh opener Uys Conradie batted solidly to make 72, but his only real back up came from Sullivan who made 35, and with no other batters contributing meaningfully, Woodleigh’s innings ended on 145, giving NPBHS a 164-run win. Cathcart took 3/19 and Honeyfield 3/39 in a quality bowling performance.
It was an impressive display from the school side, and comes in a year when they also made the semifinals of the one-day competition.
Congratulations to NPBHS and all the players, coaches and support staff for a top season 👊
