New Plymouth Iaido Association Iaido - a Japanese swordsmanship. We practise 12 styles of Zenken Seitei Iaido and Muso Shinden ryu katas. Affiliated with New Zealand Kendo Federation).

Members have opportunities to attend Iaido seminars and gradings in NZ, Australia, and Japan. Official Page Of the New Plymouth Iaido Association. Iaido is the oldest form of authentic Japanese martial art, developed over 400 years ago. It's an art of drawing and striking with a Japanese sword called an Iaito or a practice sword to dispatch an opponent. Training is done in the form of kata which a

re fixed forms used to defeat the opponent in different scenarios. We practise Zen Ken Seitei Iaido and Koryu (old style) - Muso Shinden Ryu Iai Omori Ryu (Shoden) under the guidance of AKL Iaido Club. We train on Mondays 6pm till 7.30pm

What a remarkable day we had! The very first Taranaki Japan Day was attended by over 2,000 people. We had a great deal of interest from the visitors. Thank you to Sophie and Ken from Sushi Ninja for their vision and organisation! I'm so proud to be part of the wonderful Japanese community.
