The Great New Zealand Jumps Carnage (Carnival)

Tutin Cans was 10 years old. He (from the stewards report) 'Misjudged the sixth fence and fell dislodging its rider. TUTIN CANS was immediately attended to by the Veterinarian with the horse ambulance being deployed.'

This is the same ambulance the racing crowd were fundraising for the night before, 'Saturday Night Live, an auction for the NZ Horse Ambulance Trust'.

The report continues:
'TUTIN CANS was found to have suffered a suspected fracture of the spine being humanely euthanised.'

The video of the incident (we posted yesterday of Tutin Cans not getting up) drew criticism from the horseracing industry.
Which is the most macabre?, Showing the truth or covering it up and hiding it?

This is not about 'Gotcha' moments, this is about recording the fatalities & serious injuries New Zealand Jumps Racing and NZTR cover up, delete, not talk openly about and fail to show.

Huge crash! 10-year-old TUTIN CANS crashes and doesn’t get up.

We are waiting to hear how TUTIN CANS is doing. Will his horse float go back empty tonight?

Jumps racing is advertised as “Great” & “Glamorous”, but it is the deadliest form of horse racing.

Should it continue? Is Tutin Cans OK?

'The great New Zealand Jumps Carnival' Its true name is cruelty.

Take a look at this video .

Tomorrow night there is an auction for the ,The ambulance that goes and treats injured horses on track. The carnival is more like a cruel circus with a horse injured every jumps race.

From the stewards report:

Race 1 DUNSTAN MAIDEN STEEPLECHASE 3600

STAR WARRIOR Raced keenly in the lead through the early to middle stages but jumped
indifferently and was inclined to run its fences down, balking at the fence near the 1900 metres and put in an
awkward jump then commenced to give ground shortly after before being retired from the race prior to jumping
the final two fences. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which found the gelding to have a slow
recovery. Stewards will follow up with connections on the post-race condition of the gelding in the coming days.

METALLO - Put in a poor fence near the 1800 metres dislodging its rider Underwent a postrace veterinary examination which found a wound in the right nostril.

MONT VENTOUX – Retired from the race prior to jumping the third to last fence. Rider reported that
the gelding mixed its jumping throughout and had felt something may be amiss with the gelding just prior to
retiring from the race. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which found the gelding to have a suspected right fore tendon injury

Race 2 AJRA MAIDEN HURDLE 3100

KEEN ON BUBBLES - Retired from the race prior to jumping
the final two fences. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which found the mare to have a slow recovery and mild nasal discharge

ENDEAN ACE – Ran down the final THREE fences.

ROSINA - Retired from the race prior to jumping the final two fences. Rider reported that the mare had
jumped indifferently and had made heavy contact with a fence and may have suffered a leg injury. Underwent a
post-race veterinary examination which found the mare to have small wounds to the right knee and the right
hind canon.

Race 3 J SWAP GREAT NEW ZEALAND HURDLES 4200

NEVER LOOK BACK - Hit the fence at the 1100 metres and fell dislodging the rider. Underwent a post-race veterinary
examination which found blood in the left nostril from a wound consistent with falling and a minor abrasion on
the left flank.

PINKERTON (J Parker) - Retired from the race prior to jumping the third to last fence. Underwent a post-race
veterinary examination which found the gelding to have swelling in the right fore tendon. Connections were
advised a veterinary clearance would be required prior to racing next

Race 4 MBS ADVISORS CHARTERED ACCOUNTANTS (AMATEUR RIDERS) 2200

VERDI’S OPERA - Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which found the mare to have a
significant laceration to the left hind leg. Connections were advised a veterinary clearance would be required
prior to racing next

The second horse this season (that we know about)

ELLE MCFAB RAN her last at , the same track where WESTCOAST never returned from last year.

ELLE MCFAB was a horse that raced in the very last race at which hosted its final scheduled race meeting on July 15, 2026, after 136 years.

From the stewards report:

ELLE MCFAB - Knuckled past the winning post being immediately pulled up by its rider and
dismounted. Was immediately attended to by the on-course veterinarian with the horse ambulance being
deployed. Underwent a veterinary examination which found the mare to have a ruptured right fore tendon being
humanely euthanised.

Is there a future for horseracing or just like greyhound racing should it be banned?

Another jumps race another crash at Te Aroha, New Zealand Racecourse.

The stands are empty but for a handful of spectators.

Race 2: THE VET ASSOCIATES EQUINE PAKURANGA HUNT OPEN HURDLE

OPN HDL 3100m - $60,000

11YO Bay Gelding HAPPYSTAR crashes then rolls over not once, but twice.

Should we be putting horses in harms way.

New Zealand's favourite jumper WESTCOAST was about to be retired at 10 years old, but instead had his career and life ended on a jumps racecourse.

Once again another horse who should have been retired is put in harms way.

While we wait to hear how many other horses get injured at Te Aroha, New Zealand more horses are put at risk for profit.

Is it time to ban Jumps Racing? What do you think?

Only three days shy of his birthday, Stralsund became the first horse to lose his life on a New Zealand race track this season.

Behind the betting odds and glamour, real lives are risked for profit. These aren't "accidents" - they're the expected cost of an industry built on speed, pressure, and disposable animals.

Four years old. That's young. We ask them to run until their legs give out, then call it unfortunate.

“Slow to begin. Faltered just prior to the winning post when racing free of interference
with the gelding being eased down by its rider. STRALSUND was immediately attended to by the Veterinarian
with the Horse Ambulance deployed and was found to have fractured the right front knee, being humanely
e*thanised.”

Why is it acceptable to put horses in harms way like this?

Jumps racing will post horses were not hurt, how will the horses be feeling tommorow blunt force trauma is not always visible immediately.

Every jumps race today had a crash.

Do you support jumps races or should they be banned?

Race 2: HOSPITALITY NZ CANTERBURY 136TH GRAND NATIONAL HURDLES

Another crash! 7yo AFFORDABLE crashes to the ground.

These crashes are billed as 'premium' they are far from it.
Horses being bunched up at a jump causes chaos and injury sometimes fatal.

Should Jumps races continue? What are your thoughts?
