Take Them a Meal

Take Them a Meal Dinner; it's always needed but there are some times in life when it's almost impossible to even think about.

Through sickness, new baby, death or other seasons, we want to be able to support families in our community by providing home cooked meals.

02/10/2026

Our biggest cooking collaboration yet!
Across two HUGE days, our community and two local business teams created 605 packages of meals, baking, desserts and sides — now stocked and ready to support families.

Day One — BECA
Their first time partnering with us, bringing fantastic energy and teamwork.
Day Two — ANZ Business & Agri
Returning for their second year. This day was dedicated to their past colleague and friend Duane Cameron, who recently passed away. The team carried him in their thoughts — a beautiful tribute through service.

Thank‑Yous…
• Sacred Heart Girls’ College — for the facilities.
• On the House — for supplying most ingredients.
• Our community — for ongoing donations and financial support.
• All our volunteers — Take Them a Meal helpers, BECA, ANZ Business & Agri, and the wonderful young people who stepped in.
• Linda — for weeks of prep and organisation.
• Dee — for our Thermomix.
Some meals went straight out to families the same day — a reminder of why this mahi matters. This collaboration showed teamwork, remembrance and connection.

Thank you, Taranaki. We have real heart here!

We’d like to send out a huge thank you to the Inglewood Lions group. We were fortunate enough to be chosen as one of the groups to receive funding from their annual book sale this year. What a surprise to receive a $3000 donation!

The Inglewood Lions are a hardworking and longstanding team that are doing some fantastic work supporting individuals and community groups in the local area.

Julia and Julia spent an evening sharing with them more about what we get up to with TTAM, how we started, the work we’re doing… and then also hearing from some other groups that have been supported through Lions - very inspirational.

Thank you to everyone involved in the Inglewood Lions and this years book fair

A huge part of what we do relies on freezer space. It’s how we’re able to respond quickly when needs arise. We keep freezers in different locations so if power ever goes out, we minimise the loss of meals. One of our second‑hand freezers, donated to us years ago, stopped working a number of months ago. Thankfully it was noticed straight away and all meals were safely transferred. We’ve talked for a long time about buying a new freezer for reliability and power efficiency, but the cost has always held us back. Every dollar spent on equipment is a dollar not spent on ingredients and we try to stretch every bit of funding as far as possible. So we waited… and waited… hoping for a good sale that never came. Today a van with a delivery arrived 😲The O’Sullivan family have kindly purchased a brand‑new freezer for us. A gift that brought happy tears, because we know exactly what this means — greater capacity to store meals, less risk of loss and ultimately more mouths fed.
We usually stick to thanking businesses rather than personal contributions, as every act of generosity comes with its own level of sacrifice and we value them all equally. But this gift directly strengthens the backbone of our operation and acknowledging it feels right.
We thank the O’Sullivan family for this incredible kindness.
