This Te Wiki o Te Reo Māori, we’re celebrating the richness of te reo Māori by sharing an important and meaningful kupu - Whaikaha.

In te reo Māori, whaikaha can function as a verb, modifier or noun. It means to have strength, be strong enough, or be concentrated.

Within the Māori disabled community, whaikaha has been adapted to refer to disability and people with disabilities, placing the focus on strength, capability and potential rather than deficiency.

This meaning strongly reflects what we see every day at Conductive Education Taranaki - people discovering what they can do, building confidence, developing new skills and working towards their individual potential.
