🌟 Spotlight on Our Supporters 🌟
This week, we’re proud to shine the spotlight on Francis Douglas Memorial College 💙
We’re incredibly grateful for their support in helping our community. As part of their Founders Day, the students came together to collect food items and toiletries, and their generosity will go a long way in supporting families who need it most.
It’s wonderful to see such kindness and commitment—thank you for making a real difference.
Ngā mihi nui, Francis Douglas !!! 🙌

🌧️ End of Week Update💛

It’s been a shorter week for us here at the Foodbank due to the King’s Birthday long weekend, with our doors open for just 2 days. Despite that, our amazing team was still hard at work supporting our community 💪

🥕 This week we provided 106 kai parcels, helping to feed 275 people in need. Thank you to everyone who reached out and trusted us for support.

🌬️ We finished the week with a wet and windy Friday—but thankfully the rain held off for most of the day! 🌦️

☂️ A small ask from us: we would greatly appreciate donations of umbrellas. Over the past few winters, our supply has slowly disappeared and having spares available makes a big difference for those waiting at the foodbank in rough weather. Thank you in advance!

💻 Reminder – Cash for Kai Campaign 💛
Our Cash for Kai fundraiser is running through Givealittle and every donation helps us keep shelves stocked and parcels going out to whānau in need. If you’re able to share the link with your friends, whānau and networks, it would mean the world to us 🙏

💛 As always, we are incredibly grateful for the generosity, kindness and ongoing support from our community—you make this mahi possible.

📅 We’ll be back to our usual opening hours next week and ready to continue supporting those who need us.

Ngā mihi nui,
New Plymouth Community Foodbank Team 🧡

We are so grateful for our amazing community and the incredible support we’ve received this week. 💙
A huge thank you to St Marys, St Josephs Church, and Our Lady Help of Christians for your ongoing generosity — your continued support means so much to us and the people we support. 🙌
A special shoutout to Ottimo Food Store for donating pork sausages — such a wonderful contribution that will go a long way in our kai parcels! 🥩
We feel so lucky to be part of such a caring and supportive community. Ngāmotu, you are truly amazing — always showing up, backing us, and helping us make a difference where it matters most.
Ngā mihi nui to you all! ❤️

We’re proud to be part of Game Changer 🦌, an awesome initiative that connects hunters, butchers, and communities to help deliver quality protein to foodbanks across Aotearoa. Hunters donate wild deer, supporters help cover the processing costs, and the meat is returned to our foodbank to support local whānau.
💚 The need for food support in our region continues to grow, and we rely on ongoing help to keep providing essential kai to those who need it most.
Every contribution makes a difference — whether it’s a small donation or simply sharing our message.
Here’s how it works:
• Donations help fund processing a donated deer
• Once $120 is reached, a registered hunter can harvest
• The deer is processed into venison mince
• The meat is packaged and delivered to our foodbank
• Around 200 meals are created for local whānau
💚 Protein is one of the hardest items for foodbanks to source, so this support has a real impact — and Game Changer NZ takes care of the process.

Ngā mihi nui for your continued support 💚

🌟 Our Give a Little is Now Live 🌟
As we head into winter and Matariki 2026, many whānau in our community are facing incredibly tough choices — like paying power bills or putting kai on the table.
At the New Plymouth Community Foodbank, we’re seeing more people needing support than ever before. No one should have to go to bed hungry. Nutritious food means children can rest with full tummies, families can manage rising costs, and people can stay warm through the coldest months.
Right now, our shelves are running low. After our annual food drive, much of our stock has been distributed — and we urgently need a mid-winter top-up to keep kai flowing.
💛 Your donation will help:
• Fill empty shelves with essential kai
• Support whānau facing winter hardship
• Ensure food is available through Matariki and beyond
Every dollar you give turns into real food for real people in our community.

👉 Please give what you can and share this post to spread the word. Together, we can make sure no one goes hungry this winter.

New Plymouth Community Foodbank needs our help!

May has already been their busiest month this year, and we’re not even into winter yet. In May, 567 kai parcels went out to help feed 1362 people, half of whom were children. The demand just keeps on growing, including from working families who just can’t make ends meet.

The Foodbank gets many donations, but there are always things that they need to buy, which is why between now and Matariki, they are running a GiveaLittle called Kai for Cash, to help top up food parcels with essentials for those in need.

Here’s how you can help:
-> Make a donation to their Kai For Cash GiveaLittle
-> Donate toilet paper and/or soap (they never have enough!)
-> If you have property contacts, or you are (or know) a benefactor who could sponsor a new home for the Foodbank, get in touch! They are bursting at the seams in their tiny shed, and in winter it floods.
-> Share this post!

🌟 End of Month Update 🌟

As we wrap up the month of May, we want to share that this has officially been our busiest month so far this year — a true reflection of both the growing need in our community and the incredible effort behind the scenes. 📦💙

A huge thank you to every single person who supports the mahi of the foodbank — our volunteers, donors, partners, and community champions. We simply couldn’t do this without you. 🙌✨
