I want to give a special mention to Alic Good who has volunteered at the Westown HospiceShop for 25 years.
Alic is also my oldest volunteer at 94 years young! He comes twice a week, walking to work and home again. He also makes 12 pots of marmalade every couple of weeks.
First job of the morning is sweeping the shop followed by emptying our big rubbish bin into the even bigger skip bin. He then will be found testing and pricing electrical, cleaning fridges and any other job we have for him.
He is an absolute gem, and we are so lucky to celebrate this milestone with him. 🥰🥰

Such a wonderful collection of new items in the shop! Make sure to check them out- we are open until 3pm today.

We had a grand time on Saturday 13 September when we gathered together to celebrate our volunteers.
We had a yummy lunch at the Devon Hotel and got to spend quality time with the people who are the heartbeat of our organisation.
We gave out our service awards with 5,10,15,20 and 25 years celebrated.
These milestones are important, both for the staff to say thank you to the volunteers, but also to celebrate with our volunteers for their service to the organisation.
Their service means that we can run our HospiceShops. Running our HospiceShops means that Hospice Taranaki can keep caring for those in our community who need end of life, palliative care and be able to provide that care free of charge.
Arohanui, congratulations and hurrah to all our super special HospiceShop Volunteers.
