😍 How to get to know your workmates

🏃‍♂️ Enter a 24-hour triathlon with them 😁

Some of the fantastic feedback we received last year was how much people enjoyed getting to know their workmates out of the office.

There's still time to enter... grab your workmates (really you only need one), your tent and BBQ if you're super organised.

🏊‍♂️🚵🏃‍♂️ Why We Tri.

Tri24 isn't just a fun team's event it's our way of giving back to our community. At the heart of Tri24 is our commitment to the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Taranaki organisation.

Event founder and organiser Suzanne has two young boys Finn and Charlie who lost their Dad to su***de in December 2022. They both now have Big Brothers who spend 1 hour per week of quality time with them.

Charlie (age 6) loves quizzing his BB Lenny about everything that pops into his head. Where are the electricity poles in some neighborhoods? What are clouds made of? How exactly does the Earth spin?

Finn (age 8) and his BB Russell are just starting some furniture restorations to earn some spare cash for their future outings. Having Russell gives Finn a trusted male to talk to which is a big boost for his confidence.

BBBS doesn't receive any government funding so any fundraising that our teams can do in the lead up to the event goes a long way to helping our local tamariki grow up into healthy and resilient adults.

🏊🩱🩲 SWIM - 4 hours at Todd Energy Aquatic Centre

🥽 Start time 6:30am
🥽 You can swim any stroke
🥽 Minimum distance 100m (2 lengths of the 50m pool)
🥽 It's up to your team how often each person swims. Not everyone needs to swim.
🥽 Tumble turning is allowed - BUT you need to provide your own person to count your laps as the timing chips aren't 100% reliable if you aren't doing the tap and go.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 There's no age limit for Tri24 and even your kids can join in.

They just need to be able to swim 100m, cycle 1.75km or run 1km at a time and if under 12 have an adult supervising them the entire time.

So if you need an extra team member on race day and have some kids that don't like to miss out on the action sign them up!

Why we Tri…
Meet Charlie, the youngest of Tri24 organiser Suzanne’s boys. Charlie and older brother Finn were left without their Dad when Mark took his own life in December 2022.

So Tri24 was born, to remember Mark Turner, grow our conversations around su***de and mental health and to support amazing organisations like Big Brothers Big Sisters of Taranaki

You’re looking at a GOOD BLOKE (and an AWESOME Little) 🙌

Introducing new match, Lenny (Tuakana) and Charlie (Teina). So far, these two have been enjoying drives around town, exploring different routes to their activity destinations while chatting and admiring the buildings. They've visited Brooklands Zoo and Pukekura Park and even scouted some future fishing spots for their hangouts.

Welcome to the BBBS whānau you two.💥

⭐🤩 Introducing team 'The Vollies' ⭐🤩

We are currently looking for members to join our team of volunteers at Tri24 on the 15th February 2025.

This is not your ordinary volunteer post... you will be swimming, riding and running with the rest of the Tri24 participants.

All you have to do to be part of The Vollies is commit to a 2-hour stint of volunteering and then for the other 22 hours you can join in and have fun.

It's a great way to spend a summer day/night!

To sign up just head to https://raceroster.com/events/2025/87452/tri24 and add yourself to the team.

👏 Nice work Taranaki! We are so happy to hear the team at BBBS hit their target of “12 good blokes” already and it’s only July 🥰

That’s 12 tamariki with a new role model in their lives. Let’s get another 12 before Tri24 kicks off in February!

TARANAKI, TOGETHER WE HAVE DONE IT! 🎉

We have had an awesome month here at BBBS Taranaki making matches and we could not be prouder to share with you that we reached our target of 12 Good Blokes.

This is HUGE! Typically, we onboard around 5 male mentors per year, and thanks to all of the community support, we now have 12 incredible men already making a difference in young boys' lives (and we are still only in July).

We're taking a moment to celebrate this achievement this week, but next week, we're back at it! More on this to come.

Taranaki, a massive thank you! You got behind this campaign, and together, we made it happen. 💜🏔️

There’s something for everyone at Tri24. 💙

Your team can be a mix of seasoned athletes after a solid weekend of training, beginners eager for a challenge, or friends seeking a fun weekend activity, we’ve got you covered!

With up to 12 in a team, each member can swim, ride or run as much or as little as they like. A challenge for some might be swimming a couple of laps or walking 1 km in the middle of the night. You have the flexibility to choose your own team's style.

🥰 We love the work of the team at Big Brothers Big Sisters of Taranaki so much that we will be supporting them again for the 2025 Tri24.

Their campaign of getting '12 good blokes' to sign up as mentors in 2024 is looking like being a great success. Let's help them smash this goal and reduce their huge waiting list of young boys needing a male mentor in Taranaki.

Big Brothers and Big Sisters receive no government support. We've set our fundraising target for 2025 as $20,000. 💪 So grab your teammates and help support our in need tamariki.
