A great turnout yesterday, with 21 residents taking part in our 3 Steps for Life session - learning lifesaving skills, including how to use their new community AED. ❤️ A big thanks to Kylie for delivering another fantastic session and helping the Okiwi Bay community be prepared when it matters most 🚑

There's a new Defibrillator (AED) at the Okiwi Community Centre and it's available 24/7, thanks to the Okiwi Bay Residents Assn 💛

Now's your chance to learn the 3 Steps for Life to gain the skills and confidence to use the AED in an emergency 🚑

Join Kylie this Saturday for a FREE one-hour CPR and AED training session. You'll learn what to do if someone experiences a cardiac arrest and how to use an AED to help save a life.

What a fantastic afternoon celebrating the people who make a difference in our communities 💛

At the 2026 Nelson & Tasman Bays Service Awards Ceremony on Saturday, we recognised 14 dedicated members from our Ambulance Operations and Community Health Services teams for their service and commitment. An amazing 235 years acknowledged!

We also celebrated the hard work and achievements of three Emergency Medical Technicians who received their New Zealand Diploma in Ambulance Practice, and two Cadets who were presented with Grand Prior’s Awards.

We were honoured to be joined by Rachel Boyack MP, Nelson Mayor Hon Dr Nick Smith and Tasman District Deputy Mayor Brent Maru, along with many other supporters and guests.

A special thank you to the whānau and families behind our paid and volunteer staff. Your support enables them to continue serving our communities every day.

Congratulations to all those recognised. Thank you for your dedication, professionalism and service. 👏🚑

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦❤️ Caring for Kids: Essential First Aid Skills - NEW course ❤️👶

Would you know what to do if a child in your care was choking, injured, or suddenly unwell?

Our new Caring for Kids: Essential First Aid Skills course has been created especially for parents, caregivers, whānau, grandparents, and babysitters who want to build confidence in responding to everyday emergencies involving children and infants.

This practical 3-hour session focuses on essential life-saving skills and provides clear guidance on recognising and responding to the most common medical conditions and injuries in children and infants. All in a relaxed learning environment with no formal assessments.

✅ Designed for anyone caring for children aged 0–8 years
✅ Plenty of hands-on learning and real-life scenarios
✅ Receive a certificate valid for 2 years (no NZQA unit standards)

You'll leave with valuable knowledge, practical skills, and the confidence to act when it matters most.
