Absolutely agree, the incredible role that Nelson Environment Centre contribute to our region and specifically the Kai Rescue programme within Tahunanui and wider Nelson is phenomenal.
If you have items to repurpose whether clothing, building supplies and household goods please considering donating to the Environment Centre when you have that next Spring clean

The food rescue and food bank sector is calling on the government to develop a national policy around food security as many charities risk facing closure.

Help us build a new kākā aviary! 🦜

Every improvement at Natureland boosts the impact of our conservation work, and you are a critical part of that success!

As our role in Aotearoa’s parrot conservation grows, our animal habitats need to grow too. Natureland Zoo thrives thanks to Nelson’s incredibly generous, conservation-minded community, and we need your help once again. Committed to the highest standards of animal husbandry, we want the absolute best for our birds.

As the proud keepers of the only South Island breeding kākā, a new aviary is more crucial than ever. This new space will directly improve the success of our South Island breed-for-release programme.

With support from the World Parrot Trust and amazing supporters like you, we know we’ll reach our target. Please share this with your Facebook groups and community circles to help us spread the word!

Whether it’s $2 or more, every single dollar counts and we are so grateful for your support! ❤️

Exciting changes ahead at Ocean Lodge, Muritai Street in Tahunanui

🌊 The Ocean Lodge begins a new chapter today.

As we work our way through all the twists and turns that come with taking over a new business, we want to let the Ocean Lodge community know that over the coming days, weeks, and months you'll start to see a number of exciting changes taking place—changes we trust will enhance your experience every time you join us.

We're thrilled to welcome two new chefs to the team, who are already hard at work creating what we believe will be a truly magical menu. Their focus is simple: deliver genuine value without ever compromising on quality.

While there will be plenty of fresh ideas, new offerings, and exciting announcements to come, one thing will never change. At its heart, Ocean Lodge will remain a community-focused venue—a place where friends, families, locals, and visitors can come together, share a laugh, enjoy great food and drink, and create lasting memories.

We have some big news and exciting developments on the horizon that we think will make a lot of people very happy, and we can't wait to share them with you soon.

Most importantly, this venue belongs to the community it serves, and we'd love to hear from you. What would you like to see at Ocean Lodge? New menu items? Entertainment? Events? Family activities? Something completely different?

Drop a comment below and let us know. Your ideas matter, and we'd love to be part of bringing them to life.

Thank you for your support as we begin this journey. The best is yet to come.

Cheers 🍺

Beautiful day to walk from Tahunanui beach to the Styx via Rocks Road rocks, on Sunday.

That’s right you can walk from the beach ALL the way along the sand and rocks, under the ConnollyQuay fishing platform, the Boatshed, The Boathouse, past the Nelson Yacht club and finally under the old Power building.

Tide permitting xx
