Don was a man of boundless curiosity and a deeply held conviction for creating a better world. Whether harmonizing in a barbershop quartet, advocating for climate action, or trapping pests on Kaipūpū Sanctuary, his energy was infectious. He held a profound respect for Māori culture, dedicating himself to the beauty of Te Reo as a learner and a teacher. As a community psychiatrist, he worked tirelessly and with immense heart, providing a steady hand and a compassionate ear to his patients. Don’s greatest passion remained his family and friends.

Each lunar month is accompanied by stunning artwork, created in wānanga by “Te Ohu Weka”, a collaboration of Te Tauihu artists led by Robin Slow and Mat Tait. As always all proceeds go towards Te Ataarangi’s grassroots reo revitalisation programmes across Te Tauihu/ the Top of the South.
