A huge Congratulations to our 3 amazing Westshore Women who have been awarded their Bronze Tiki for Service to Scouting. There is not much happens in Westshore without these fabulous women being involved in the background. A massive BRAVO to Raewyn, Vicki & Joy. We would be lost without all your hard work and dedication.

Last night Westshore Sea Scouts farewelled one of our long serving Scout Leaders with a special presentation.

Martin (Curlew) has been involved in scouting all his life.

He started scouting as a Cub in Edinburgh at age 8 and became a scout leader in 1980s. He was formally warranted as a Venturer leader in Jan 1986.

Martin and his family moved to New Zealand in 2004 and he has been warranted at Westshore Sea Scouts since February 2005.

All 4 of his children also came through Westshore Sea Scouts.

His Scout name is ‘Curlew’ which is a water bird, common in Scotland but rare here. (He was also the Patrol Leader of the Curlew Patrol when he was a Scout).

In 2024 Martin was awarded a Hawkes Bay Volunteer of the Year Award - and in 2025 he was awarded his Long Service Award from the Scout Association of New Zealand.

Thank you for your incredible commitment to Scouting Martin!!!
It is greatly appreciated by us all.

BRAVO!!!
