Over the past couple of days some of ā tātou pēpi have begun their transition to Gifford House from Tom Parker house. They have loved singing and dancing, drawing, racing up and down the ramp, joining in at group time, making new friends with both mokopuna and kaiako and learning to wash their hands in the sink before kai. He Mahi rawe, e nga tamariki!

🌻 Happy World Teachers’ Day! 🌻

Today, 5 October, we celebrate teachers everywhere, with a special thank you to our wonderful teams at Birthright Hawke’s Bay’s three Early Childhood Education Services: Swinburn House, Tom Parker House and Gifford House. 💜

Every day, you bring care, patience, creativity and skill to your mahi with tamariki. Through warm relationships, play and thoughtful teaching, you help each child feel valued, build confidence and discover the joy of learning.

We also celebrate the relationships you build with whānau, working together to support tamariki to flourish.

To our teachers and the teams alongside them, we see the heart you put into your work, and we are proud of the difference you make. Ngā mihi nui! 🌱

🎉THANK YOU Z Energy FROM BIRTHRIGHT HAWKE'S BAY! 🎉

The Good in the Hood campaign at Z Taradale has officially wrapped up, and we are incredibly grateful! 💙

The entries closed on 14 September 2026, and we want to say a heartfelt THANK YOU to everyone in our community who supported Birthright Hawke's Bay by popping their token into our box.

On 1 October, we had the pleasure of meeting with the wonderful Z Taradale team, who presented us with our share of the $5,000 funding pool. 🙌

To Z Taradale, thank you for choosing Birthright Hawke's Bay as one of your local community groups and for giving us the opportunity to be part of this fantastic initiative.

Keeping connected, keeping current, and continuing to learn 💜

We’re in Tāmaki Makaurau at Whakamanawa 2026 – The National Social Services Conference, hosted by Social Service Providers Te Pai Ora o Aotearoa.

Two days of learning, listening, networking and connecting with people from across the social services sector – sharing ideas, hearing different perspectives and thinking about what the future looks like for our communities and whānau.

Today’s conversations have included sustainability, social investment, strengthening our sector and, importantly, how we continue to make a meaningful difference for the whānau and tamariki we work alongside.

For Birthright Hawke’s Bay, being here is also about keeping current with what is happening nationally, building and strengthening relationships, and bringing new thinking and ideas back home to Hawke’s Bay.

Always good to step outside the day-to-day, connect with others doing this mahi, and keep learning. 🌿
