Spotlight on our Musical Director

“Sophisticated performer”

That’s how one of the judges described our Musical Director, Rachel Cadwallader, at our recent competition.

We see that too. We see the talented musician, the dedicated leader, and the performer who has achieved so much in just 2 years as our director.

But we also see the fun-loving woman who enjoys a good laugh, the kind and caring friend who supports every member, and the incredibly patient teacher who helps us grow week after week.

A Hawke’s Bay local with a background in choral music, Rachel joined Sounds of Hawke’s Bay Chorus in 2018 and quickly fell in love with barbershop harmony. Since becoming our director, she has inspired us to reach higher than we thought possible.

Rachel, thank you for your talent, your dedication, your belief in us, and the beautiful spirit you bring to our chorus. We are so proud of everything you have achieved and grateful to have you leading us on this journey. ❤️🎶

You are welcome to come along and meet Rachel and our chorus every Thursday evening in the Clive School Hall at 7.15pm.

What a weekend! We had the best time. Thank you Harmony Manawatu for hosting this SANZ International NZ Competition and Convention.

And a huge big congratulations and hugs to our amazing director Rachel Cadwallader, who got us to this position in her very first competition as Musical Director - woohoo! Rachel we love you 🥰

On Anzac Day, we had the privilege of standing alongside our community at the memorial service in Clive, Hawke's Bay.
It was a deeply moving morning — families of all ages gathered in quiet reflection, beautiful wreaths laid with care, and a shared sense of gratitude for those who gave so much.
We were honoured to lend our voices in support of the service, simply to help hold the space and add to the moment of remembrance.
Lest we forget.
