Meet Glenn Shee, our Oranga Whānau Supervisor who specialises in AOD.

Today, Glenn spent the day with our Te Tuakiri rangatahi teaching them how to sew heat packs for our kaumātua as we head into winter.

Te Tuakiri is a rangatahi kaupapa that connects our young people to their tuakiritanga through pepeha as a pathway to oranga.

Ko Uenuku koe, tawhana i te rangi, ko Ngāi Te Rangi e.

Last week we celebrated the graduation of three incredible people from our rūnanga whānau.

Renee Mackay – Bachelor of Bicultural Social Work
Renee began her journey with us as administrator of our Mātauranga Reo unit before moving to our Oranga Whānau team, where she commenced her studies. Renee is a fierce advocate for our whānau, particularly those in transitional housing — working tirelessly to help them into more permanent homes.

Aaron De Ridder – Certificate in Bicultural Social Services
Five years ago, Aaron made a conscious decision to choose oranga and turned his life around. He completed his certificate and now works alongside our whānau in the Mauri Tau team, supporting people in the AOD space.

Charlie Tawhiao – Honorary Doctorate, Te Whare Wānanga o Awanuiārangi
And in true Charlie fashion — he didn't tell a soul. We found out by accident! Congratulations, Dr Tawhiao 🎓 no body more deserving!

Congratulations to all our whānau who graduated — we are incredibly proud of the mahi you've done. To be Ngāi Te Rangi is to be our best versions to serve our whānau. 🖤💛

We know there are heaps of other whānau who graduated last week or are graduating this week — please tag us in your posts, we would love to reshare! Otherwise, email us a photo and details and we'll include you in our next Tērā Te Marama. 🎓
