Gidday Mosgiel!
Wow Meat on the move have outdone themselves again! They have supplied (at their own expense!) tubs and tubs of meat products for people and their beloved dogs. We couldn't be more grateful for this show of support, all the way from Balclutha!
And of course the meat would not have arrived without the help of our friends at Salvation Army bringing it down.
If you have large flexi-tubs or roughly 50L fish tubs going spare, could you please bring them down to 2 Wickliffe St between 10am and 12pm Mon-Fri so we can pass them onto these amazing people doing hard yakka for the good of others.
Meat is something we do our best to provide at Mosgiel Community Foodbank, and we take pride in being able to service our community with produce, meat, and as much kindness as we can. So, if you, or someone you know has extra produce, home-kill, freezer bags, or good old fashioned preserves, we would love to hear from you!

Dry Soup Mix (such as grain/lentil/kings mix to build casseroles etc)

How Your Local Foodbank Works—And How You Help Us Help Others!

Ever wondered what goes on behind the scenes at the Mosgiel Community Foodbank?

We are an independent charity run by the Taieri Christian Care Trust, powered entirely by our incredible local community. Every single item on our shelves and every dollar paying our bills comes directly from public donations, grants, and local support.

We act as the bridge between your generosity and local families who need a hand up across Mosgiel, Outram, Fairfield, Green Island, Brighton, and Taieri Mouth.



Where Our Food Comes From Our small team of passionate coordinators and volunteers pack parcels using goods donated through our annual Christmas Food Drive, walk-in community donations, and our amazing local partners: Woolworths Mosgiel, New World Mosgiel, BP Mosgiel, and Kiwi Harvest. We quite literally couldn't open our doors without them!



How We Share the Support Because we can only pass on what has been donated to us, we have to stretch our resources as fairly as possible. This is why we generally limit support to one food parcel per household every two months (around 6 times a year). We know this doesn't always cover every need, and while we wish we could do more, working within our supply keeps our support sustainable for everyone. We would love to be in a position to be able to provide more.



More Than Just Food Alongside pantry staples, we also love being able to provide essential everyday items like toiletries, laundry and dish soaps, sanitary products, and toothpaste.



How You Can Help Today If you're in a position to give, please consider dropping an item into the donation bins at the front of Woolworths or New World Mosgiel on your next shop. Every small item makes a massive difference.

To everyone who donates their time, food, or funds: thank you for helping us look after our neighbours in times of hardship!

Thank you very much to KiwiHarvest (and by extension our local stores such as Woolworths, New World, and BP) for being an ongoing support to our people, it is because of these amazing people that we were able to give out butter, apples, bananas, milk powder, cream, and so much more to our families in need.

Good Morning Mosgiel, if you have been inspired to do something kind, or even if you are a regular donor we have made a list of things that would be incredibly helpful to receive
There are some key items we are consistently running out of such as:
Tomato sauce
Cooking Oil
Creamed Corn
Meal Sauces/Flavour Sachets- help people build meals!
Shampoo
Laundry Powder
Toothbrushes (especially soft ones for children!)
Toothpaste

It has been a busy time at the foodbank, the shelves are being cleared faster than we can stock them, and that is why we would love to say a huge thank you to so many of you who donate. There are more donations that come through the doors than we can post about- so we apologise if we have missed anyone out!
Today we would like to give our thanks to the Taieri Garden Club and the Womens' Woman Institute for their donations to the foodbank. Keep them coming people! Food IS essential, and kindness like this speaks volumes of the generosity of our people.

Spreads for toast (jams, marmite, honey- whatever you are feeling)
