The Ngāti Hauā Iwi Trust was established to receive, manage, administer and apply the Trust’s assets on behalf of and for the benefit of the present and future members of Ngāti Hauā in accordance with its Trust Deed. The 2026 Election is on the 7 November, and your voice can shift the future for our whānau, our whenua, our oranga.

To have your say, you need to be enrolled 🫡 and you get to choose the Māori roll or the general roll. Whatever you choose, make it yours.

Key dates:
• 6 Aug – last day to change rolls
• 4 Oct – enrol to get your EasyVote card
• 25 Oct – last day to enrol
• 26 Oct – voting opens
• 7 Nov – Election Day

PANUI – HUI Ā IWI POSTPONED

E te iwi o Ngāti Hauā, tēnā koutou katoa

Due to the impacts and uncertainty surrounding Cyclone Vaianu, the Ngāti Hauā hui ā iwi scheduled for Sunday 12 April at Waimakariri Marae has been postponed.

The safety and wellbeing of our whānau is our top priority. With weather conditions expected to be unpredictable, we believe it is important that everyone remains safe and avoids unnecessary travel at this time.

We encourage all whānau to:

Take care and stay safe
Check on and support your whānau, kaumātua and neighbours
Stay updated with official weather and civil defence advice

We will communicate a new date for the hui as soon as possible.

Expressions of interest are now open for the Rangatahi Taiao Haerenga 2026 🍃
7-9 April 2026

This haerenga is for tribally registered rangatahi aged 16-25 to connect to the many taiao environments within the Waikato rohe.

Over three days, rangatahi will embark on a journey across the rohe, strengthening their hononga to the whenua, wai and moana, while learning alongside others who share a passion for taiao and kaitiakitanga.

Rangatahi will gain insights into the Waikato-Tainui Treaty Settlement, Te Ture Whaimana moo te Awa o Waikato, and the Tai Tumu, Tai Pari, Tai Ao Environmental Management Plan - key frameworks that reflect our iwi's role and responsibilities as kaitiaki.

This rangatahi taiao haerenga is a space for whakapapa, whanaungatanga and waananga, fostering koorero tuku iho and getting inspired by those who are actively working to restore and protect our lands and waters.

Registrations close on 20 March, 2026.

EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST SOUGHT – Maangai Maaori | Hamilton City Council
Kia tupu, kia hua, kia puaawai

Waikato-Tainui is seeking Expressions of Interest for two Maangai Maaori representative roles on Hamilton City Council committees for the 2025–2028 term.

We are looking to appoint:
1 representative - Finance and Assurance Committee
1 representative - Growth and Economic Development Committee

Maangai Maaori bring Maaori perspectives and expertise into council decision-making, with full participation rights at committee level.

These roles provide an opportunity to influence key decisions impacting Kirikiriroa and ensure our iwi voice is present in strategic discussions relating to finance, risk, growth, infrastructure and economic development.

We are seeking candidates with governance experience, strong strategic capability, excellent communication skills, and a sound understanding of tikanga Maaori, Kiingitanga, Waikatotanga and Whakatupuranga 2050. These appointments are for a three-year term.

If you or someone you know would be a strong representative for our iwi, we encourage you to apply.
