28th NZ Maori Battalion, Auckland Association Inc.1959 On ANZAC Day 1958 after the Dawn service, the idea was floated to form a Battalion Association.

Later that same year 40 Veterans of the Maori Battalion held an informal meeting in the Community Centre, Fanshawe St, Auckland. This started a chain reaction which eventually lead to the First official meeting of the 28th Maori Battalion (NZ) Association on February 5th 1960.
