ROTORUA FISHING & CASTING CLUB - SEPTEMBER CLUB FISH

What a fantastic club weekend on the beach! From 6:00 PM Friday through to 9:00 AM Sunday, we had a great turnout with 12 members fishing 18 rods. The sea was peaceful and flat, and there were heaps of shells on the beach which were good signs of things picking up! The fish were definitely biting, with plenty of kahawai keeping everyone on their toes.

Here is the final tally of what hit the sand over the weekend:

🐟 18 Kahawai
🐟 2 Snapper
🐟 2 Gurnard
🐟 2 Mullet

Big congratulations to our weekend winners:

πŸ† Blue – Top Snapper
πŸ† Sam – Top Kahawai
πŸ† Corey – Top Gurnard (Other Section)

A massive thanks to everyone who made it to the beaches and fished hard. It was awesome to see so many lines in the water and good vibes on the beach.

πŸ—“οΈ LOOKING AHEAD:Lock it in the diary! Our next club fish is locked for October 9th–11th.

See you all there!

Tight lines.

Kath Riri & Kelvin Barton Memorial Interclub

Just got back Home after a fantastic weekend away in the Eastern Bay of Plenty! Our team hit the beach for the Kath Riri and Kelvin Barton Memorial interclub fish, and what a turnout it was.

There were 65 fishers across the four clubs, Rotorua, Ōpōtiki, Whakatāne, and Gisborne, making for some great competition.

Although the bite seemed to die as soon as the sun went down, our RFCC members put in a solid shift on the sand, bringing home:

🐟 9 Snapper
🐟 9 Gurnard
🐟 4 Kahawai
🐟 2 Trevally

While the tally wasn’t quite enough to chase down Gisborne or Whakatāne this time around, we are stoked to secure the win in our interclub against the Ōpōtiki Surfcasting Club! πŸ†

A huge thank you to everyone who made the trip, and to Thomas and the team from Ōpōtiki, memorable weekend honoring Kath and Kelvin.

Tight lines until the next year!
