🐣💛 Spreading Easter Joy 💛🐣

Our amazing Keas group were busy at the end of term creating beautiful Easter jars to gift to the wonderful residents at Pohlen Rest Home for Easter 🐰🌸

This special activity is all about kindness, connection, and giving back to our community. The kids put so much love and creativity into each jar, and we hope they brought big smiles to the faces of our elderly friends. 🫶

We’re so proud of our Keas for showing such care and compassion—what a lovely way to celebrate the spirit of Easter 💐✨

A massive THANK YOU to Kiwanis Club of Matamata for your contribution to purchase a new microwave and kitchen equipment for our Scout Den and Baigents Matamata for the donation of a fridge. With your generosity, we now have a fully functional kitchen where our Keas, Cubs and Scouts have been enjoying cooking up a storm and we can safely store food before we head out on camping adventures! 🏕👏👏

What a weekend!! 🙌🔥
Our National Kea Sleepover at The Den in Matamata was so much fun. The kids had an absolute blast and packed so much learning and adventure into one awesome sleepover.

We:
🪢 Learnt new knot-tying skills
🔥 Practised basic campfire skills and how to safely build a fire
🍫 Toasted the ultimate s’mores (a definite highlight!)
🧭 Took on an orienteering adventure
🌱 Helped our community by picking up rubbish
🚗 And even got treated to an incredible viewing of some classic hot rod cars down the back of Centennial Drive in the morning!

Watching the kids grow in confidence, learn practical skills, and care for their environment makes these weekends so special and why we do it. We’re so proud to be part of such a caring, fun, and supportive Scouts group. 💚
Already looking forward to the next adventure!

Did you get spooked on Halloween at the Scout Hall? 🎃👻 The biggest thanks to Kaisha and her mum Angela for setting up the most INCREDIBLE Halloween display, our beloved den was barely recognisable! 🕸🕷🧟‍♂️ Thanks to the support of our awesome Matamata community too, we made $456 profit! 👏🤩

Last week our Cubs tested their bike and scooter skills as they rode through Centennial Drive before racing around the Matamata Primary School bike track and practicing weaving around obstacles and cones on the school turf 🚴‍♀️🛴

Our Scouts meanwhile went on a tour along part of the Waikato River Trail 🏞🚴‍♀️ Starting at the Pōkaiwhenua, they headed towards Arapuni but didn't quite make it to the dam as light faded 🌅 They found it interesting to observe the wildlife in and around the lake while increasing their cycling skills. Maybe we'll have to give the track another go on a weekend!

Our Scout Group offers a range of challenging outdoor activities adapted to the different levels and ages of our groups, with our recent cycling activities reflecting this perfectly 🤩 We have space in our Scout Group if you have a child 11-14 years, so why not check it out? ⚜️
