Cyclone Preparedness 2 - an update from Vector....

We want to keep you informed with updates from the Vector side.

With MetService forecasting the potential for strong winds and heavy rain across Auckland this Sunday, Vector is ready to respond if needed.

If strong winds hit, that increases the risk of trees or large branches coming down and damaging power lines - which could lead to outages for some customers.

We’ve taken steps to ensure field crews are available, including our call centre, so we’re ready to respond. If, at any point, conditions become unsafe, crews will need to be stood down until it’s safe to continue.

With the severity and duration of the weather still uncertain, now’s a good time for Aucklanders to take a few simple steps - charge phones and other devices and keep an eye on local weather updates.

If you rely on electricity for medical reasons, please make sure your backup plan is ready.

And a quick safety reminder: stay well clear of any fallen or low-hanging power lines and always treat them as live. Call 111 if you see any.

You can check the latest outage information at vector.co.nz/outages.

Hi all,
Police have asked us to remind the community that the alcohol ban is now in place. It applies to all public areas of Omaha from 7pm to 7am.
There will be increased police patrols this summer and they will be enforcing the alcohol ban. Please let your teenagers and young people know.

Thanks

Have your say……

Good afternoon,
Just a reminder that Auckland Council have been asking for feedback on their Annual Plan for 2025/26.
This process closes in a few days so it’s not too late to have your say. Feedback from the Omaha community is very important if you want your priorities reflected in the final plan.

Click on the link below to see the plan and have your say. An overview of plans for Rodney is on page 26

Thanks

Consultation for Auckland's Annual Plan (budget) opens in February 2025. It sets out what we aim to achieve over the next financial year and how we will fund our plans.

Hello everyone,

As you're probably aware by now, in response to the issues last Xmas / New Year, the Police have advised they will be enforcing the existing alcohol ban in Omaha this year and taking a much tougher line on some of the dangerous behaviour we saw over that period.

Signage is now beginning to be put in place to notify the public of the ban, including this sign which has just gone up at the roundabout.

The ban is stipulated under Council bylaw and has been in place for a number of years. It specifies that alcohol is banned in all public areas of Omaha from 7pm to 7am during the months of daylight saving. This includes roads, footpaths, reserves, carparks, the beach and any other area considered to be public.

To do this, the police will be having a much greater presence than last year, including bringing resources in from outside the area. This will enable them to increase both the number of patrols and the number of officers available to respond to the kind of issues and violence they were forced to deal with early this year.

Importantly, they will be confiscating any alcohol where there is a breach and also issuing fines for breaches of the ban.

Serious or violent behaviour similar to what they experienced last holidays will lead to arrests.

There will be regular updates on this page from police and Insite Security across the holiday period.
