We keep with current professional standards; policies and procedures are in place and constantly reviewed to bring you a professional service, maintaining confidentiality at all times. Continual training and supervision are in place to ensure that we are equipped to walk alongside you. When anything falls outside of our scope of practice, we are happy to suggest other services that could be of help to you. We are registered health professionals but we do recognize our limitations - that is, that we are not you. Our role is to lay out all the options available to you and help you unpack what each option involves. WHO MAKES THIS POSSIBLE? There are many amazing people in your community who commit their time and/or money to allow this service to keep going. We are supported financially by grants, trusts, fundraising, and donations.

We know everyone is busy.
Life is expensive.
Time is limited.
And volunteering can feel hard to fit into an already full schedule.
But even one spare hour a month can make a huge difference to the many whānau we support.

Hōkai Tahi relies on volunteers to help keep our services running and FREE for families across the Wairarapa.

If your skill or idea isn’t listed on our flyer, please still get in touch.
We would love to hear from you and find a way to utilise your strengths.

It takes a village, and we can’t do this mahi without the support of people in our community.

Mother’s Day can hold many things at once.

Joy and grief.
Love and longing.
Celebration and heartache.

Today, we honour all forms of motherhood.
The mums, the step mums, the mother figures, the caregivers, the grieving mums, the mums navigating pregnancy and postpartum, those longing to become mums, and those carrying the ache of children lost or dreams unmet.

We know this day is not simple for everyone.

For some, today is filled with laughter, sticky hands, cuddles, and celebration.
For others, it may bring quiet sadness, heavy memories, or reminders of what’s missing.

Whatever today looks like for you, your experience is valid. There is space for all of it here.

From all of us at Hōkai Tahi, we are holding space for you this Mother’s Day 🤍

Today is Bereaved Mother’s Day, a day to gently acknowledge a kind of motherhood that is not always seen or spoken about.

Today holds space for the māmā who do not get to hold their pēpi or child in their arms, but who carry their love with them every single day.

It holds the quiet moments, the remembered dates, the waves of grief that can arrive in the middle of an ordinary day, and the love that continues even when life around them keeps moving.

From the outside, it can sometimes look like time has passed and life has carried on.
But for many bereaved mothers, there is a place in their heart that remains forever changed.

Not every loss is visible.
Not every grief is spoken aloud.
But it is real, it matters, and it deserves to be acknowledged.

Today, we remember that bereaved mothers are still mothers.
Their love is still love.
Their babies and children are still part of their story.

To every māmā carrying this kind of love and loss, we see you.
We honour you.
And you do not have to carry it alone.

Hōkai Tahi offers free counselling and support for baby loss, with no time limit.
If you need support, please reach out to us, we are here to walk alongside you.

Here’s the P.O.P.S line up for Term 2.
This group is a great way to get out and connect with other māmā, while gaining knowledge from professionals in our community.
(And also, the snacks are GREAT 😜)
Our Service Manager, Renee will be at the sessions on the 28th and 29th of April, sharing about what we do, and making earrings with the māmā who are present.
We hope to see you there!

💜 When we work together, we all do better. 💜

That was the mindset of our perinatal mental health hui. Erin Manning from Perinatal Wellbeing Canterbury, Kate Barby from Well Women Auckland, Renee Renata from Hōkai Tahi / Perinatal Support Service, and Stefanie Dixon from Little Shadow came together to talk about sharing resources, knowledge, and ideas.

True Colours - Honouring the Mother, The Hope Collective Trust, and PADA - Perinatal Anxiety & Depression Aotearoa all wanted to attend, but couldn't make it along this time.

Mental health care is more effective if we don't work in siloes.

Every week, we meet parents and whānau in some of their most vulnerable moments.

Maybe it’s facing an unexpected pregnancy, grieving the loss of a baby, or navigating anxiety and trauma in early parenthood.

Thanks to our generous donors, we’re able to say:
“Yes, we can help.”
With counselling.
With food and petrol vouchers.
With nursery equipment.
With space to breathe and feel heard.

But we can’t do it alone.

By giving to Hōkai Tahi, you’re making it possible for someone to access the care they need, exactly when they need it.

Whether it’s donating your time to help with fundraising, a one time gift, or a regular donation, your support makes a real difference in real lives.
