Ka Pai Carterton is a new community led development initiative formed from a two year partnership between the Department of Internal Affairs and Resilient Carterton. This funded programme will see the Ka Pai Carterton committee and support team engage with all members of our community to develop and deliver a community plan for the Carterton District.
Over the next 12 months we will be gathering your views and ideas through surveys, face to face events and activities, on areas within the community that you would like to improve or enhance, what your vision for the town is, what works, what doesn't - all for the betterment of the community. We want to ensure every member of this community has a voice and opportunity to contribute to the community plan.
Once the plan has been developed, Ka Pai Carterton will submit it to the Department of Internal Affairs for a further funding request. If funding is successful, Ka Pai Carterton will support the community to implement the ideas within the plan by sourcing appropriate funding, giving guidance to any council or regulatory requirements and identifying contractors or resources within the community who could offer their expertise etc to achieve the goals/ideas set out in the plan.
The idea of being a community led programme is to empower the members of the community by encouraging ownership and sustainability for the future of the town. The community will be the ones in the drivers seat, steering the change for the community.
