A big shout out to our partners at Mountains to Sea Wellington for supporting catchment groups across the Wairarapa to better understand the health of their local awa. 🌿💧

From freshwater monitoring and fish surveys to uncovering the fascinating world of stream insects, this hands-on learning helps communities build knowledge about what's happening in their waterways and identify opportunities for restoration.

It’s fantastic to see the Parkvale Catchment Group out in the field gathering valuable information about biodiversity in their catchment. The more we understand our awa, the better equipped we are to protect and restore them for future generations.

The Wairarapa Catchment Collective are very sorry to hear of the sudden passing of Councillor Adrienne Staples. Adrienne was a steady and committed advocate for Wairarapa and our rural communities. Her long service and practical leadership have left a lasting mark on our region. She will be remembered with respect and gratitude. We send our aroha to her whānau, friends, colleagues, and the many communities she served across Wairarapa.

Greater Wellington Regional Council and South Wairarapa District Council are deeply saddened by the sudden passing of Councillor Adrienne Staples, a respected colleague, community leader, former four-term Mayor of South Wairarapa, and Deputy Chair of Greater Wellington.
