Are you patient & friendly, enjoy troubleshooting, and love working with older people? 💻✨

Digital Seniors is looking for a new weekly volunteer to help teach seniors how to use their digital devices with free one-on-one support at our Masterton hubs👉 every Monday, 1pm–3pm, and Wednesday 10am-12noon.

As a Digital Seniors volunteer coach, you’ll support seniors to navigate a range of technologies, including computers, smartphones, and tablets. You don’t need to be an expert or have advanced tech skills — just enough to teach the basics and know how to find helpful information online. The most important part of the role is being able to relate to seniors, show kindness, and explain things clearly and simply.

If this sounds like you and you have two to three hours a week to spare, we’d love to have you join our friendly and supportive team!

💌 Please email [email protected] if you’d like to get involved!

💻✨ This past July, we ran a Digital Legacy workshop in Carterton, led by our stellar coaches Len & Kent! 🌟

They took seniors through the importance of preparing their digital lives for the unexpected, sharing practical tips on what this can include: from organising important accounts and information to making sure loved ones can access what they may need. 🔐📱

A big thank you to Len & Kent for sharing his knowledge and helping seniors feel more prepared and confident about their digital legacy! 💙

This World Senior Citizens Day, we're celebrating the seniors who have shaped our communities, supported future generations, and continue to make a difference. 💙

Thank you to the older adults in our lives whose knowledge, experience, and stories enrich our communities. In a world where answers are just a Google search or AI prompt away, it's easy to forget that for generations, it was our elders we turned to for wisdom: for family recipes passed down through the years, practical skills taught by hand, advice on raising children, and the wisdom to help us make sense of the world around us.

Today is a great reminder to spend time with the seniors you love. Ask them questions about their lives, listen to their stories, and be pleasantly surprised by the knowledge they have to share. 💙

"For many older New Zealanders, the rapid march of technology has helped build a wall rather than open doors."

'Technostress': why many older people feel shut out by the digital world, is the article this powerful line is from. An article which highlights exactly why Digital Seniors exists.

Digital exclusion is about access to healthcare, government services, banking, social connection, and independence. At Digital Seniors, we see the impact of this every day. Older New Zealanders aren't unwilling to embrace technology – they simply need the right support, delivered with patience, encouragement, and without judgement.

Digital inclusion should be a priority, not an afterthought. That's why we're committed to providing free, one-on-one digital support to help older New Zealanders build the confidence and skills they need to stay connected and independent in an increasingly digital world.
