What a week it has been at the Carterton Youth Village.

On Saturday, we were humbled to receive the Charles Rooking Award for Community Spirit and Service. Today, I had the privilege of returning home to Porirua to share with the next generation of youth workers at Praxis and reflecting on my own journey of 30 years within the youth sector. Tonight, ELEV8 who are part of the Tu Manawa Youth Panel met to review funding applications to ensure the voices of young people help shape decisions that affect our region. Tomorrow, we're back into workshops and continuing the work of building leadership, wellbeing, and opportunity for our young people. Saturday will see us celebrate a resident from the Village who is a finalist for Talent Wairarapa. The Youth Village remains a vibrant place busy, purposeful, and full of hope. As the Samoan proverb says:

"E lē sili le ta'i i lo le tapua'i."

"The success of the leader is never greater than the support of the people." Fa'afetai tele lava to everyone who walks alongside us. Together, we continue to create pathways, build futures, and strengthen our community.

Tonight we attended the Charles Rooking Carter Awards and won the category for the “Community Spirit and Service Award”, to be honest Everyone in that room were WINNERS, We are so proud to be part of such a beautiful community, we maybe a small town, but we have hundreds of Movers and Shakers here with a heart to serve. We would like to thank every Volunteer, Staff member, the Wairarapa community, every individual and families for their help and support in making this place possible.
