It’s great to see produce like this rescued rather than just being thrown out.

Beautiful fresh Broccolini provided to us today by Waiwaste.

We’ve done a quick blanch and frozen it down and we’ll then be able to add this to soups, quiches and other delicious recipes.

4 kitchen fairies today = 32 meals in the freezer

Delicious venison devilled sausages and cottage pies on the menu today. Appropriate on a very wintery feeling spring day!

During the month of July the incredible Elaine Leggott and all her wonderful followers of DOING A GOOD DEED raised $1170 for The Kitchen Fairies.

We are so incredibly grateful to everyone who brought a raffle ticket or donated to Elaine in support of our work in rural Wairarapa. Please know this money is directly contributing to the costs of making hearty meals each week and packaging them for safe freezing and reheating.

Wow what a Saturday night! Congratulations Tinui School on your 150th year celebrations this weekend.

The Kitchen Fairies felt very privileged to be part of your evening last night catering a special dinner as a final fundraiser for our year. We love being part of the special rural community of Tinui.

As with all fundraisers they don’t run smoothly without an enormous amount of volunteer support. So a heartfelt thankyou to my super star team, who helped prep during the week, to those serving, cooking, doing dishes and everything in between last night!

Nicky, Julia, Shirley, Katy, Nick, Jana, Tom, Pippa & Lilah thankyou!

Tinui School 150th Celebration 2026

Last week we were gifted plenty of bread rolls & garlic. So we turned it into Garlic and herb bread for our freezers to add to care packages.

A wee taste test to ensure the garlic ratio was just right.

It’s such a fabulous system that they run, reducing food waste from supermarkets, local growers and even home gardens.

We’re privileged to partner up with them to help turn this produce into meals for our rural communities, rather then see it go to waste 💚

All Blacks vs Italy bus trip this Saturday! 🚌

We’ve been given an unexpected opportunity to take a busload of people from our rural communities to Wellington this Saturday to watch the All Blacks take on Italy.

Our priority is to offer this opportunity to people who have been impacted by the recent weather events. We know it’s been a challenging time, and while it’s short notice, we hope a day away might provide a chance to recharge and connect with others.

We already have a great group of keen starters and still have a few spots available.
