Cubs is for children aged 8 to 11 years old. As we are restarting our group, we will only have a cubs section for the first year. We will then look at offering other sections at 1st Marton Scout Group.
❓When do they meet? Cubs - Tuesdays 6.30 - 8pm
❓How much does it cost? We offer a free 4 week trial for all new members to have a go and see if Scouts is for them. If they decide to join, our join
ging fee is $55 for shirt, scarf and group badges, thereafter $75 per term. Our term fees can be paid either as weekly payments or per term. There are also costs for camps or other big activities. Some of these costs, such as Jamboree for Scouts, can be reduced through getting involved in fundraising events.
❓What do I do now? If you think your youth would love to come along to see what it's all about, simply sign up here: https://scouts.nz/groups/1st-marton-scout-group/
Don't worry there are no charges yet, this simply means our Group Leader will recieve your information and can get in touch with you.
❓As an adult how can I help out? There are a number of roles you can volunteer in that can offer you a lot of amazing opportunities.
1️⃣ ️Leader: Leaders often speak of how rewarding it is to volunteer with SCOUTS New Zealand. Many parents choose to become a Leader of a Kea Club, Cub Pack or Scout Troop, and experience SCOUTS for themselves - learning and challenging themselves as they progress through SCOUTS New Zealand's Leader Training scheme.
2️⃣ ️Committee Member: Behind the scenes of all our Groups are committees of experienced and dedicated volunteers who act as a board. They help with the operational side of our Scout Groups, helping to ensure the delivery of our high-quality programmes for young people. This is an opportunity for business people to become involved with SCOUTS.
3️⃣ ️Scouting Associate: SCOUTS New Zealand provides a volunteering opportunity to those who cannot commit on a regular basis in the form of Scouting Associates. You can assist at activities and events, like MudSlide Day or at one of our Adventure Schools. As a Scouting Associate you will be kept up-to-date on events in your community, and you can choose to help out when and where you want.
4️⃣ ️Parent Helper: Not every adult feels as though they are cut out to be a leader, but we actively encourage parents to be involved in their child's experience at SCOUTS. Volunteering as a Parent Helper is as simple as providing transport to a camp, helping out at a fundraising event, or picking up a paint brush to renovate a hall. For those who just want to help out where they can, this is another great opportunity to contribute as a volunteer.
